I believe it has more to do with the millions of Mom and Pop viewers deciding between a Matlock re-run or a ND vs Miami game. Or said another way, I am anything but a Michigan fan but I turn on their games when they are on TV and it doesn’t have a lot to do with their record. So I think it has more to do with national BRAND. Brand can be built on more than football success. Just look at UNC. Is our national brand appreciably better than UVA? Maybe. But by how much?
