But why would ESPN do this? They know at least on the surface, no conference can approach FSU or anyone else until that school has a workable pathway out. No school has a workable path out right now. I don't think Clemson or anyone other than FSU is all that hot to leave. And, if the ACCN helps the ACC continue to trend upward in payouts like they did in 2023, Then only FSU, who has burned a lot of bridges, may think they can do better. Add a stiff cost to leave and even FSU may think they need to put leaving on hold.
