Lordy it's crazy hot here. I have to work outside only a half hour at a
time. I'm just not that dedicated. So, I come in and do some weather surfing out of curiosity. It's not even 90 degrees (supposedly) and it's going to stay like this forever. No bueno. Then I checked Richmond and DC for this coming week. All I can say for you out there is "prayers". Sick, sick, sick heat coming your way. 100's (plural).

It's not even hot, but it's miserable in the DMV
Walked the dawgs at 0700 and came back soaked. Went outside about 11 and cut my small lawn and sweated through another shirt, pair of shorts, and pair of socks. Can't even imagine later this week. My wife retired from coaching the outdoor Summer swim team, so we don't have her badgering the guards to run the water cannon every night to stay as far ahead of the impending heat as possible. I'm guessing my swim Friday will be utterly brutal in about 88-90 degree water. Going to Rockies on the 4th. I'm sure I'll be pretty happy to get away from this miserable weather.

Worried about the boy next week at Quantico....
Week six is the "grind week". Lots of physical stuff...CFT, O course, combat course...and it's going to be 100+ with humidity for a couple of the days. Better him than me, that's for sure...

They have strict rules on caring for them
My son was at Parris Island in the Summer. I'd guess the officer candidates are treated better than the recruits. They will have black flag days when it's too hot to train outside. Then have too much invested in these men to mess around with their health during training.

Spent a couple hours outside earlier before it got nasty hot. Now
it's nasty hot. We were to have had an outdoor, community 4th of July gathering but it's been postponed to Fall. Temps here on the 4th may reach 100.

I woke to humidity in the upper 80s. It was stifling...
I don't mind the heat, but heat + humidity is brutal.

Drought, extreme heat, and fireworks is not a good combination...

Indeed - Utah is already on fire and yet people here are up in arms
over the governor effectively banning fireworks for the Fourth

Hmm, yeah. Hope for the best. I often think of fire hazards when I go to
Key West. All of those wooden houses packed tightly together, some of which are housing drunken idiots. And the breeze is fairly constant. I'm kinda surprised nothing horrible has happened, at least, that I know of.
