My guess was tied for 2nd with South Africa...
...since Northern Ireland is part of the UK... My next best guess since Stork had already picked Spain.

Nah, does the UK actually compete as such in any sporting events?
The most I generally see is Great Britain, encompassing Wales and England. Or simply just England.

ding, ding, ding, correct!
Spain has won six Masters with John Rahm (2023), Sergio Garcia (2017), Jose Maria Olazabal (1994, 1999) and Seve Ballesteros (1980, 1983). South Africa was next with five (three of them by Gary Player). England has won four (three of them by Nick Faldo). Rory McIlroy has now brought Northern Ireland into a fifth place tie with Germany with two each.

I think Faldo, Willett, Woosnam and Lyle gives England six as well

Eh...seems to me that maybe the UK shoulda been the answer
Throw in the Scot and Welsh winner the UK has 8. I guess it's a matter of semantics...but the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is in fact, a country.

You make a good point; however,
note that Rory had the flag of Northern Ireland and not the flag of the UK or England next to his name in the standings.
