In what city did Euclid, the father of geometry, do most of his work?

Euclid was Greek but was from Alexandria, which was then a predominantly Greek city in what is now Egypt. He is known as “Euclid of Alexandria” to differentiate him from “Euclid of Megara” a philosopher.

Academics were Macedonians. Greek was the language of the pharaoh after Alexander’s general Ptolemy and his later family ran the joint.
