Lindsey Vonn ruptered her ACL and will still compete in the Olympics anyway
She will wear a brace on her left knee and will compete.
Pretty remarkable.

The team coach carried her to the bench area. I think her name was Carrie, or some derivative of the pronunciation.

Yes, she is very courageous. The chance she crashes again while going up to 80mph is very high. I don't like it. I believe her people should talk her out of it

ACL surgery anyway, and anything ELSE she did would just have to be addressed in an already necessary surgery.. At least I HOPE that's it, but it seems awfully damn risky to me!

one of the most hard headed on the circuit though.

Or at this point, is there not any wiggle room on substituting another American athlete to utilize her spot?

why would we put a skier out there with 2/3rds of a knee?

How do you take that away from someone...if they decide they still want to give it a shot?

is 4th place gets the same trophy as 50th. You go big or go home. US basically doesn't have anyone else with a chance at a medal other than Breezy Johnson on the speed team. I still give Linsey a better chance than the dudes. She won't ski Super G though.

medal. Breezy Johnson is already qualified and will compete, but she just podium'd this past weekend in a weak field for the first time this year. So our ladies speed team is really Lindsey and Breezy with a small chance to medal. Where as our short turn brigade is very strong with Shiffrin, Moltzan, and McBride who all have it in them to medal. I expect Gold from Shiffrin in the SL, but she's been around the podium in GS. Moltzan has been on the podium this year too. McBride is close to a break-through...has the speed in sections, but does some bone-headed stuff that ejects her from the course in spectacular fashion (she's on the edge). The thing about the olympic courses is they are easier than normal WC races typically, so there is a chance for lower ranked racers to make a surprise. Hilary Lindh's medal comes to mind from years past.

Tore his ACL in the spring, didn't have surgery, and started the first two games against Arkansas State and LSU before giving way to Randall.

Suspect another crash fairly quickly in this case.
