Red Ryder will just piss them off
You need the power of a pump gun. We have 15 acres in rural PA and are pretty well-versed in critter control. We used the Red Ryder to annoy the squirrels on the feeder. That's about all it will do.

Pre-charged pneumatic... .22 cal with integrated suppressor
legal without tax stamp because the projectile is not propelled by means of an explosion. Nearly silent and wreak havoc on nuisance critters. Pump once and shoot about 30 times without repumping.

That will do it

There is only deterrent to a squirrel
We've battled them forever. I guess the spring in my RR is pretty old. I got it for Christmas maybe 1974 or so. It's been at the house in PA for probably 25 years. My boys have gone through a lot BBs. We are in general kind to animals like squirrels. Anything the digs a hole, though, gets unalived, because we don't need grandpa breaking a leg or tipping the tractor over. Chippies get the 22. Groundhogs get the .270. We leave those to the SGT.

In the mid 1960s in Roanoke the only birds I remember seeing in the city
were Starlings and pigeons (Wasena bridge).
