a space plane that was re-usable. Then the next time we saw that space plane on the launch pad while we were on the tour, then a few days later watched it launch from the steps of Cinderella's castle.

We especially loved the special tour to all the launch sites. that was the highlight for us. There's not much to the main section itself. It's a little boring other than the Atlantis exhibits, that was awesome. But the rocket garden, and the other stuff were kindof meh. When you take the bus to the other section...that was the best stuff plus the launch sites if you bought a special ticket to go on those. Pro-tip, sit on the left side of the bus.

Yes, you need an update..lotsa new exhibits...

But it was expensive… I love the Space Coast and will go again.

I am in the top 1% of the top 1% of NASA supporters but when I see that hydrogen tank solid rocket booster combination I think of NASA's darkest hour, a self inflicted wound despite engineering's valid and communicated concern, amid the hubris of "We can't fail" and we need to launch every 2 weeks, all driven by invalid economics, and think how we sent an amazing school teacher and 6 other magnificent human beings into space aboard Columbia. Given all that transpired prior to the launch and was ignored, well, you know the rest, and it makes me sad. The whole shuttle program was a bridge too far, especially when you consider 2 of the 5 that flew were destroyed mid mission.

My dad was stationed at Patrick Air Force base and I was home sick that day. My mom reminded me the shuttle was launching and should go watch. I remember that something wasn’t right and ran inside to turn on the tv. So sad 😩. For months we were instructed to report anything that washed up on the beach. Then, I was moving cross country from Cali back to VA the week of 27 Jan 2003, going across the 10, through Texas, and then Columbia happened. So sad 😩 God bless all our pioneering astronauts and the ultimate sacrifice they made!

It's more like a them park-museum hybrid. You can go full Monty and get a bus ride out to the Saturn V building. That ride is narrated by the driver and takes you past the assembly building, etc. Lots to see and do, worth it to me.
