Guy I work(ed?) with hit a million dollar scratch off
I love it for him, but I'm going to miss him. He was a good one. My age, same work ethic, we got along great.
But wow! It just seems so unreal.

you would be amazed what people live on outside the US
I have watched 100s of "leave the US" videos on YouTube. There are a lot of people living outside the US, and living what look like really decent lives on $1500 a month, all in. This must be what happens to people who have no real savings and only Social Security.
Mexico, Thailand, Philippines, Ecuador, Vietnam....all easy to get into as an American.

You should be able to live comfortably on a $800K investment if you don't have an extravagant lifestyle. But when you start buying new houses, cars, etc., you'll burn through that in no time.
Still remember the VT player who went to the NFL, and he said he wanted to buy a Lamborghini. That's the way for an NFL player to work his way into poverty after football.

doesn't sound like it was a tax hit, just the future value of money deal that is built into all of those games.
Most of the time, they lop off 50 percent right off the bat in other states. Say what you will, but I love Florida.

Don’t you lose half of you take the lump sum and then the IRS takes half of the residual. It’s closer to $250k right? It’s better than a kick in the pants, but is that “FU Money” as the kids say.

avoid a penalty, that is he probably needs to pay it all now concurrent with the payout. It's probably worse that hey didn't deduct it from the check if he isn't aware of that.

It doesn't sound like he's about to produce a lot of income like Willie Nelson and Wesley Snipes. They have the talent to generate a lot of income when they need it.

4 tickets about a month ago, and didn't win. But the guy in line behind him bought the very next ticket and THAT
one hit for a million! So I guess he just felt like he had to keep playing until he won. Otherwise, how can you continue on with life with that hanging over your head, lol? All's well that ends well.
