The DC council still has to pass it and the neighborhoods around the stadium and dead set against it. Going to be a tough fight and then there's the $$ to agree on too. MD is going to offer more. They'll build a new stadium in the Landover site closer to the metro station and redevelop the rest of the land into mixed use.

The bill that passed had nothing to do with money/funding. Zero.
It only gives control of the site to DC. That's it. Nothing more.
But others...who knew little to nothing about the measure...got their hands into it and nearly screwed it up.

and the answer is because it's quid pro quo crap. Which is why the budget is out of control... everyone agrees to give what everyone else wants to pay off their benefactors to get what they want to pay off theirs.

I vote for your thing if you vote for mine. Everyone wins.
Very little in the universe matters to nearly everyone. People who think otherwise don't live in the real world, or simply don't give two hoos about anyone other than themselves.

And let’s be honest… No team owner ever wants to pay for their own stadium.

I'll just note that another new stadium is the last thing the DC area needs. The bickering, infighting and far-flung insults and accusations, though, are about to begin there, so start popping popcorn.
