a very niche market...such as a prince from Casablanca. My home in the N.Georgia mountains is half the price and much more appealing to the average person who wants to live in the mountains.

Stating the obvious but when you build a custom home, sometimes you can make it so customized that you're the only one that would want it. Which is fine....until you actually want to sell it.

like it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, not Genghis Khan.

Because a house designed by Genghis Khan sounds way cooler to me.
Regardless, I think we can agree for $2M, a McMansion isn't very appealing. I'd like a house that cost that much to have some character.

I was thinking it looked kind of like someone was trying to design a modern house with Disney's Alladin as an architectural inspiration.

Guess it was a good thing aTm covered the price of that sale.
One would think if someone was putting that much money into a house, wouldn't they want the exterior to look decent?

With the contingency that they put in a moat. How can you have an almost-castle and not have a moat?
But the view alone is probably worth a half-mil.

I don't know who the shoppers are for a 2 million dollar house in Blacksburg, but I assume there is usually a Mrs. involved too. Unless she grew up loving castles I'd imagine it's a hard no for most.

Anyone who would be interested in the property can see it has been on the market awhile during the hottest real estate market possibly ever.
The question is, how much below asking price would they take? 10% less? 25% less? 50% less?
I'm actually the type of person who would be interested in a house like that. But not $2M worth. Not even close.

Way up on top of a hill overlooking the Ellett Valley. Looks pretty ugly from the outside (IMHO)

looking out on the world with my hands behind my back.
Yeah, I mean that really is atrocious, what was the inspiration?

what the hell are they building?
I'm pretty sure it will sit for a while if it hasn't been sitting for a while already.

is there are other McMansions that are darned close to $2M in price in the area.
If I had that kind of coin to spend on a house, why in the world would I get a McMansion when I could get a castle instead?

If I had that much, I'd just buy Frank's house if I wanted to live over
that way. Then you can at least brag that you bought Frank's house
