I had a knee injury while being tackled playing rugby. I came to

later find out my quads and hamstrings were way off balance which caused a much worse injury to the lateral tendons around my knee. During rehab, I had to focus on strengthening these two muscles to make sure they were much more balanced along with lateral strength exercises for my knee. After coming back from the injury and rehab, I took more tackles on the knee. However the impacts were never as severe and damaging as the initial injury. Usually only took a few days with ice, rest, etc for recovery.
