At this point, this country is so partisan divided that anything espoused
by one side as a good idea is considered fundamentally a bad idea by anyone on the other team. And no amount of reason will accomplish anything once a party-line opinion is formed.
I'm with you...I'm genuinely looking forward to the day of driving an affordable vehicle with instantaneous torque, virtually zero maintenance, acceleration you could take from the showroom floor to the drag strip, and almost insignificant operating costs. Personally, I couldn't care less whether it is zero emissions or spews out crap like a 1970's logging truck. I just like the idea of getting supercar performance at 1/10th the price of a supercar.
That an EV is virtually zero emissions is a nice side-benefit. Now if only we could get the electricity from nuclear and get the batteries from not-China.
