Sometimes injuries happen because there is an imbalance between opposing
muscle groups. Such as your bicep is much stronger than your tricep. This may be causing your healing issues. The imbalance also creates additional stress on your tendons, ligaments, etc leading to strains, sprains, tears.
I have seen videos where baseball pitchers have this issue with the muscular imbalance in their shoulders due to the release point of their pitching motion. Where, I think, the front muscles of the shoulder are not as developed as the back shoulder muscles. If they take time away from pitching, and work to strengthen the weak portion of the shoulder muscles; they will regain speed and strength with their pitches when they start to throw again.
