Stars seem to be aligned; Beau Pribula
2024 conversation with JF indicates their prior relationship and their new decision landscape. Same conversation (see link) quoted recently in article placing Pribula at the top of JF’s wish list, and likely, JF at the top of BP’s.
$$$ talks, but trust is important too. And they aren’t, necessarily, mutually exclusive. Gotta think if $1.8M is doable by VT and Danny O’brien is on board, it’s all but done. [AI doesn’t mention VT as a possible destination.]
See JF’s commentary in the 2024 link (same commentary in several articles) about Pribula’s transfer from PSU to Miz.

He looks really good. His stats aren't great BUT he played against tough teams like Alabama, Oklahoma and Vandy. He would probably be more comfortable in the offense that James Franklin runs.

Between the two (Grunk and Pribula), JF and O’Brien have a birds eye view. If Grunk opts out the bowl game (unlikely, but possible), I’d expect its game on for him to follow JF and DO.

To up the demand for their services especially if you were not considered a top tier guy to begin with.

Several predict that he’s going back to Penn State. He’s apparently updated his x profile back to Penn State photos.

I’d say he has to try.

Personally, I think he would be the wrong fit for VT who has struggled with consistency at that position for a decade. He's more of a game manager type QB, than a playmaker.

But we're bringing in a guy to be the guy.

I think I read it was the 6th game, was out for 2, and then never found stride after that. Through 6 his numbers seemed good. I’m sure JF and Danny O’Brian have the perspective to make the go/no go call. Trust coach.

A closer look at Pribula and his numbers are comparable to Drones, as well as style. His completion percentage is impressive at 67% but the 11:9 TD to INT ratio is worse and his passing yards were the same at slightly better than 1900 yards and nearly the same number of completions.
Biggest concern here is he’s not a fit for Franklin’s pro style O which I have read is why he left PSU to begin with. Same reason Rocco Becht is likely heading to PSU to fit Campbells O.
Not sure he’s the guy to steady this ship while the D is being rebuilt. He won’t have a top 10 D to lean on either. I’d also prefer someone with 2 years of eligibility left as well as year 2 will be crucial for showing some ROI. Unless Huhn is a phenom I’d rather not be breaking a QB that year. I don’t see him as an optimal solution.

When I read the first puff piece I wasn’t high on him. When I read JFs remarks in 2024 I didn’t know if the intent was to defend him for bailing on PSU or to obscure their having had a “tough conversation” about his inevitably being dead end behind Allar. I think he’d be an improvement over KD (which says little), but there seem to be a couple nice QB pieces in the $1.8M area.

Not as QB1. I don’t think he can take too big a risk at QB1 with the exception of playing a true freshman who has a high ceiling and a big run game to take pressure off of him. Is Huhn that guy? Don’t know but I see the ideal QB as being someone with 2 years of eligibility left, pro style w/just enough wheel, and 1 year starting experience. We shall see.

has clear path to QB1 at Tech. VT can promise starter reps, not just "competition".

If he can, do whatever it takes to get him. We haven't had one of those in 2 years.

above average. If Tech fans want explosive, pass-first offense, or him to carry the offense, then he wouldn't be the guy.

I expect us to lean very heavily on the running game next season. I think he can be a better game manager than Drones and at least complete a pass. Should be a solid, not sexy, move if this is the route we go.

Ethan Grunkemeyer did enough for PSU this year to make the waters, at least, muddy for Beau P to get a direct route to QB1. At VT, his 1 year remaining would fit nicely with current QB room and Troy Huhn. I haven’t read that Danny O’Brien wouldn't be on board; they were both were at PSU in 2023-24.
