automatic bid since they were the highest ranked Group of 5 Conference champs, I believe is what I heard/read, and they opted to take 2 Group of 5 Conference champs, but didn’t take an independent team. Or was it stated somewhere that they took Miami over ND? Miami is 10th in the CFP with both Tulane and JMU ranked below them. I didn’t get a chance to watch the selection show which is why I am asking who was placed over ND.

are a P-conference or a G-conference. Since UVA didn't do the its job last night to secure the bid for the ACC, that opened the door for 2 G-conferences to receive automatic bids. In theory, all 5 automatic bids could go to G-conferences if they happen to be the highest ranked conference champions in the final FBS poll.

ND was selected over a higher ranking VT team for The Fiesta Bowl. I have not pulled for ND football in any game since then.

Freaking Saban doesn't care about the health of college football. Leaving out the G5 for 3 lost SEC teams etc.

Sun Belt champion and AAC champion don't "deserve" to make the field because they wouldn't have achieved their record playing Alabama's SEC schedule with their Sun Belt/AAC players. They probably don't think JMU has any chance leaving Eugene with a W. So they will spend as little time talking about the preview for that game so they can spend a lot more time talking about Alabama vs. Oklahoma. SEC vs. SEC, 2 historic blue bloods squaring off, what more could audiences ask for?

perfect world, whichever network(s) get to broadcast the FBS Playoffs should be 100% neutral when it comes to which conferences receives bids to it and how many bid(s) each conference receives. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world where the networks (ESPN in this case) operate with a separation of church and state (if you will). I doubt Fox, CBS, or NBC would be any different if they were in ESPN's shoes. IIWII at this point in time.
