Dude can coach and knows how to win championships. Luv that. If he had the HC job at an FCS or G5, I’d say he’d be a leading candidate. Might be better suited right now to be the next DC if he’s interested but I’m guessing he wants a HC job and that will probably be at a G5 school first. Assuming the money that’s being advertised is there, he’s a secondary candidate.

He has the funds to buy a new set of players, especially good OL and DL.

Search, but a GM would be first and we're putting up some money this time to compete....if thats true, not sure how they would be close to that decision right now.

And the coach reports to him and then to board. Take AD out of it. We need someone focused on the PROGRAM and not just their next coaching job. Keeps objectivity and accountability a little more front and center. Yes, GM could fall into the same mode of "next job" but to keep doing it the way it's always been done is the very definition of the "i" word. A GM may actually expand a pool of coaching candidates because shows we are serious about the PROGRAM and takes a lot of that "stuff" off coaches who actually like to coach.
