If VT had another $20m annually to spend, how would you spend it?
Coaches, players, facilities, certain sports, other?
For reference, VT had $139m in total athletic department revenue in 2023. In general the annual VT revenue is middle class for ACC public schools and lower middle class across all the P5 public schools.

FB is the straw that stirs the drink. Giving a substantial portion of that money to olympic sports or WBB is like a 22 yr old mid-round draft pick spending a substantial portion of their signing bonus on a depreciating asset like a fancy car. The $$ are instantly worth less and will never bring a substantive return.

to go all in on NIL to poach the best players in FB and MBB your money can get in order to try an elevate the program. Give the fans something to be excited for and the money streams will flow.
As it is right now, yes we are losing the arms raise, but we are sill spending a crap ton of money just to tread water. Nothing exciting to cheer for. Sure, planning a weekend to Blacksburg is still fun, but I'm no longer arranging my Saturdays to accommodate VT football. Half the time, I don't even know when the men's BB games are on, and when I do tune in to watch, I don't know half the roster. Not invested at all anymore.
I suspect that sentiment is widely shared among most Hokie and college alumni, outside the SEC and the top 4 Big10. That probably changes though when a fanbase has realist optimism.
