Your best players portal for better $$$, or competition, or better chance for championships, etc. Your players that are struggling to develop, or find minutes and are too impatient to work through it, ride the bench and learn a system until their Junior or Senior years...They can cut and run and start over somewhere else. The problem is there is no throttle, nothing to slow things down. Coaches that don't have complicated systems (or can install quickly) and live with the rent-a-player mentality will have a path to success. Not sure that's the way MY is built....or VT for that matter.

There are a few Pashas who think they deserve more playing time, but the others are money. Players don’t dislike Young. If you were making $150K and a competitor owned by a UVA grad offered you $200K, you would see if your company could match it or at least compete with it. If they couldn’t, you would take the new offer. These numbers are hypothetical, but if Player A is making $250K and he is offered $750K-$1M and we offer $350K to stay, we won’t keep anybody. If we have no money to offer, we might want to be prepared for walk on tryouts like in 90-91.

Plenty of players are nudged out, thats not cause of NIL. Coaches leaving or not trusting the current staff. Many players leave for playing time and easier competition. Heck Pat Wessler didnt portal cause of NIL I agree NIL is a multiplier to decisions these players make, but to state portaling 1. is solely happening because of money and 2. only a recent thing cause of NIL is nescient
