Bottom line IMO hasn't changed since ACC play opened, go 10-8 and we're safe. Go 9-9 and we will need at least 2 wins in acc tourney.

We use to always say team X needed to win one or two in their conference tourneys. I think the committee has a firm grasp of who they have in before the major conf tourneys. I think the only time they adjust is if team X makes it to the final or wins the whole thing...and I think even making it to the final doesn't affect it if they feel team X is on the outside looking in before the conf tourney.

considers them as last tie breakers. They seed most everything before the conclusion of the conference tournaments and hate to change things because one change can open up the need for lots of changes on locations seeds etc.

Doesn't mean it is written in stone but they have to start somewhere. They will make adjustments obviously if games dont play out the way they suspect. But my point is they don't like to make wholesale changes unless they really have to.

Procedure used to fill the brackets. They take the cnet scores as soon as the conference tourneys are complete. They don’t pre seed because of the geographic placement of the 1 and 2 seeds and other factors. I’ve heard they run practice runs leading up to the conf tourneys. But it’s just for practice. I don’t have the link to the document but I found it on google a few months ago. The ncaa published it to head off criticism over the process. I think it’s a year or two old.

deviation is there between some of the practice runs and the actual bracket. I mean it is possible a practice run may have used the same 2 teams for the #1 and #2 seeds for a region. Then it may be a plug and play situation with a few minor tweaks to account for upsets in a conference tourney or changes in which school will receive a conference's automatic bid. I am thinking about the timeline for Selection Sunday. If the final conference tournament doesn't end until sometime between 4-5pm (maybe 6pm at the latest) and the Selection Show is around 7 or 7:30pm, then that doesn't give the Committee much time especially if committee members are required to leave the room while they debate their team. Plus, I think in one of the interviews the committee chair said they started working the actual bracket earlier that day before all the tournaments were completed. Then all they needed to do is make a few minor changes once all the tournaments are complete.
