wouldn't blame CMY if he pulled a Tony Bennett and walked after this season. College athletics is a complete cluster f................

Couldn't agree more.
If CMY is back next year, then we are very, very fortunate. Hopefully there has been some behind the scenes stuff where CMY was told to just make it through this year and the NIL $$$ will be coming. I obviously don't know that but that is the only way I could see him staying because when you don't have a chance to compete, then why stay?
Folks might say you can't read too much into the ACC/SEC Challenge results and I say just the opposite. It wasn't just the 14-2 margin the SEC put on us but a lot of those games were not even competitive. We saw in real time what the difference in NIL $$$ translates to the on court performance. Coaching is NOT the problem in MBB - it may or may not be in football but not in MBB as we have seen what CMY can do when he has talent. CBP had a lot of talent returning this year and we saw the results.

We are in the top five for wealthy alumni. Why can't we 'buy' a good program like the other guys do?

We have no way of knowing what our NIL rank is as
there is zero transparency. We just know we didn't have enough to keep four starters that left after last season.

of the following are or would very likely have more wealthy alumni and/or more wealth among them: UVa, UNC, Duke, Standford,
Cal, GT, Notre Dame, SMU, and Miami (likely). We have a supportive alumni base, but we have lower numbers of older alumni. In 20 or so years, the numbers deficit will disappear and the volume of potential doners may offset some of the universities with alumni with higher weath.
It is not clear where VT would fall in the remaining 9 universities.

This whole thing is a disaster. Maybe they don’t want to throw their money away? If I had money to burn and a brain I would want to see a compelling vision and workable plan from the AD. As far as I know WB has presented no such plan.

Kind of like Scott Stadium on warm, sunny day. Hate it for CMY who knows and is accountable.
