But I've been thinking a lot lately about the types of posts on the message boards, and Tweets on Twitter, that I should respond to, because people are getting meaner and meaner to each other these days (as long as they are behind keyboards and not in-person) on Twitter and on message boards. And the answer I came up with is that I will only respond to posts that address me (and others) in a way in which a person would/should address another person face-to-face. So yeah, if somebody came up to me face to face and said to me "I take issue with an article that you wrote, and here are the reasons why" then they certainly would get a response, explanation, or what have you, because what they said is fair and it isn't rude or mean-spirited. But if somebody came up to me and said "I don't give a crap about this or that, your article is painful, and it's just sad" then I'd just move on and not even give them the time of day. I've actually never had anybody talk to me like that before face to face...so I'm not sure why people think that talking to people like that online is ok. Point being, and this goes for everybody, talk to people on this board like you would talk to them if you were speaking to them face to face. Even our subscribers are doing it more and more these days, and that's just sad. I get it. Social media has somehow made it socially acceptable to say things to other people online that you would never say to them if you met them. But there's no reason for our users to do it to each other.
