14 games left, RPI has plummeted to 39
Probably need to go 9-5 or better 1 each vs UNC & UVA, sweep Ohio, beat LU, beat Miami 2/3 and beat JMU. That’s the bare minimum now IMO for us to make NCAA

16-14 is all it takes
Someone correct me but I believe its rare for a .500 ACC team to miss the regionals and unprecedented for a winning ACC team to miss. I agree we could miss at .500, having not won a series vs a winning team but not making it at 16-14 would be a first.

Right. But that’s 4-5. Tall order AT UNC, UVA, & home vs Miami

Agreed, IMO taking 2 of 3 from either UVA or UNC will be a tall task. I
would guess both teams will score a lot of runs against us, so we'll need to bring the lumber (or aluminum in this case) to both series.

Yes, very rare to miss at above .500. Since 2013, just three such ACC...
teams. There have been 61 ACC teams above .500 in ACC play since 2013 (excluding 2020) and 58 of them (95%) have made the tournament and just 3 (5%) didn't make the tournament. 2014 Duke (16-14 conf, 33-25 overall, #84 RPI) 2017 Miami (16-13 conf, 31-27 overall, #43 RPI) 2018 Miami (16-13 conf, 28-26 overall, #65 RPI) Going a step further, there have been 16 teams since 2013 (excluding 2020) that have finished exactly .500 in ACC play and 12 of them (75%) have made the NCAA Tournament while 4 (25%) have not. In all of the cases that missed, their RPI's were in the 56 to 81 range. And finally, there have been 10 ACC teams that have finished with a 46% to 49% win percent in ACC play since 2013 (excluding 2020). Of those teams, 5 (50%) made the tournament and 5 (50%) did not. Of the teams that made it, 4 of 5 had a top 30 RPI and the lowest RPI was 36. Of the teams that didn't make it, 4 of 5 had RPI's in the 48-56 range and the best RPI was 33. Basically 4 ACC wins will have us be a near lock. 3 ACC wins will still give us a good shot but will need to do well with our non-conference games and keep our RPI in the 40 range. 2 ACC wins will be bad but could have an outside shot if we win out in our non-conference games and somehow keep our RPI in the top 40 range.

What everybody closely ahead of us does affects our chances as well. That
always seems to be forgotten. ** Edited by VT One at 4/25/2024, 8:03:56 PM

UVA dropped one to BC tonight. That helps our RPI (temporarily) and
helps us in the standings.

Not impossible
That's what I predict them doing at the least.

the 4-5 in conference is most important of that...lose 1 non-con should be
ok if we do the above. However, UNC is 24-1 at home this year, and seems like we haven't won more than 20% of games against them since joining ACC. Coaches need to do better...I thought Parliament's stuff was electric this weekend, so maybe stick with and use guys in those situations. Put the team in the best possible position to win games....not sure that is happening, at all.

That was the best Parliament has looked since the BC game
Hope he keeps it up.

Yes. Maybe sweep Miami who in spite of their record, has
talent but have played one of toughest schedules in America; then win one at at UVA ** Edited by hokiepro at 4/25/2024, 3:14:37 PM
