What's the yellow thing in the Cal Poly coach's hair?

Is it a coach thing or a California thing? ** Edited by 5thFloorLee at 5/29/2026, 11:20:42 PM

Can you tell us his name?

So we can root for him. I believe that makes JSU my 2nd favorite team. JSU v UVA starts at 7PM, also on ESPN+

Teams are bunched up between 35 & 45

The RPI point difference between #37 and #47 is small which can create large gains or losses in RPI. We are 29 points from being #37 & just 7 points from being #42. For perspective, we lost 36 RPI pts by losing today while NC St picked up 37 for winning. A 73 point swing. Current RPI board and how many points we are behind each team 35 Kentucky 85 36 Liberty 64 37 Miami (OH) 29 38 Southeast Missouri 28 39 TCU 24 40 Louisiana 22 41 High Point 17 42 North Carolina State 7 43 Texas State 5 44 Clemson 4 45 Troy 2 46 East Carolina 2 47 Virginia Tech 0 48 Arizona St -13

Need to move Pete Daniel in a few steps

He doesn't have the arm to play as deep as he does. Unless there is a man on 1st he needs to have his feet on the dirt.

The teams that get 1 or 2 byes are set

Another oddity to results on Friday is that while the seedings could change, all the byes are locked in. No team is playing today to earn or lose a bye. The top 4 (double bye), middle 4 (single bye) and bottom 8 are locked in. ** Edited by 5thFloorLee at 5/16/2026, 3:38:52 PM

Wake is the part I'm not sure about

I read somewhere that the tie breaker for teams that didn't play each other is their records vs the highest common opponent. We were 1-2 vs GT and WF got swept.

Cal 4 Stan 3. VT gets Tue bye.

Today was a great day for Hokie baseball. 5 for 5 VT Won UVA lost (run rule) Miami lost (run rule) NC State lost (run rule) Stanford lost VT will be the 5th to 8th seed in the ACCT

If Stanford loses tonight we get a Tue bye - its Stanford 3 Cal 3 Top 8

As far as I can tell we get a bye if *Stanford loses tonight (Go Bears) or *Hokies win tomorrow or * UVA or Stanford lose tomorrow And I think we could be as high as the 5th seed if we win and WF and Miami lose. Unlikely but today we needed losses by UVA, MIA and NCS and all 3 lost by the slaughter rule so anything is possible. ** Edited by 5thFloorLee at 5/15/2026, 11:11:50 PM

Congratulations! 4th 500 or better ACC season

Our 4th season in 22 tries with a 500 or better ACC record. Let's make it our 4th WINNING season tomorrow. 2005 - 1st ACC season 2010 -> 16-14 2013 -> 15-14 2022 -> 19-9 2026 -> 15-14

Pear simulates Clemson making the NCAAT with a 10-20 ACC record

after losing to FSU tomorrow and going 1-2 at VT. I don't see the committee putting Clemson in at 10-20 (likely last in the ACC) and leaving VT out at 15-15, especially with a series win over CLEM.

Going to be tough to compete on NIL

Most everything will be going to the football program. Unless a VT baseball fan makes a specific donation to pay players we won't spend the money to keep him. I remember Patrick Mahomes wrote a couple $1m checks to a Texas Tech softball pitcher to stay.

By our stats, 10 ACC wins is amazing.

I checked the ACC team stats for conference games. I covered my eyes knowing it be bad but I didn't realize how bad. The Hokies are dead last in batting average and ERA. The worst lineup and the worst pitching staff Like someone else said. Rock bottom. ACC Team Stats Batting Avg - VT .266, next worst Duke .274. Best GT .357 (91pts higher) ERA - VT 7.14, next worst Lou 6.52, Best UNC 3.53 (half our ERA!) Other Batting rankings (out of 16 teams) Hits - Last Runs - 15th HRs - 15th RBI - 15th TB - Last Slugging % - 15th K's - 14th OB% - 14th Other Pitching Ranks Hits allowed - 15th ER allowed - Last HRs allowed - 14th BAvg against - Last Balks - Tied for most I expected we'd be last in turning double plays but I guess with all those base runners you get a lot more chances. Without Lutterman Renfrow and Steig we might be winless.

Good to win a 2nd half series

We had gone almost 3 years without winning an ACC series in weeks 6-10. We won a series at Fla St on April 22, 2023 and were 0-14 since in the 2nd half. Thank you Hudson Lutterman.

Silver Lining

The pitching, clutch hitting and basic fundamentals have gotten so bad i find myself laughing more than cussing. Its Tball level. ** Edited by 5thFloorLee at 4/3/2026, 9:04:51 PM

To be generous and use the most likely explanation

Ball needs an eye exam. (Henry Cooke too). There is no way this is Ethan Ball's first time on base for a fly out. He must have thought he saw the CF catch it when he took off. After the play he has to be arguing he didn't leave early. There is no way Szefc would challenge if Ball is explaining why he doesn't have to stay on the base until the ball is caught. Having said that, the replay sure looks like he didn't know the rule. He was staring at the CF the whole time before he takes off.

I hate that our players can't hit the other way

or at least go with the pitch. Tough to be a good hitter when you can only hit to 1/3 or 1/2 the field. Georgia Tech did a great job of hittin' 'em where they ain't

In his 1st AB he swung at the wild pitch that scored our first run

2 pitches later he struck out on another would-be wild pitch except the Marshall catcher was able to jump out and block it. Most of our returning hitters have regressed from their 2025 numbers.

Thanks for the 1 camera Whit

i was going to ask for a glance of the infield alignment each batter. Turns out thats the only view Whit's gonna give us.

Miss St UCLA is a great game

headed to the 10th @ 5-5. POY favorite Roch Cholowsky hit a 2 out 2 run HR in the top 9th Bot 9 Miss St had 2nd & 3rd nobody out and could not score. Worth the Flo cost just for this game.

I bit the bullet and paid the $20

I figure this is our Omaha playing #23, #4 and #20 in a weekend Great camera coverage like MLB. Top 1st: Cooke whiffs to strand Ball at 3rd Bot 1st: Solo shot by A&M. Great diving catch by Treyson Hughes to end the inning.

February TV blackout

Anyone know or can find out why Tech chose to black out all their February home games? When families can't watch their kids play it hurts recruiting. It also hurts fan support & NIL contributions. Our only February televised game is Tue at 3PM & only because its at JMU. ESPN+

VT is the only ACC team not televising Opening Day

Sad ACCNX 2PM Mich St @ Lousiville 3PM Wagner @ UVA 4PM Bowling Green @ Ga Tech 4PM Maine @ Duke 4PM Indiana @ UNC 4PM Army @ Clemson 5PM JMU @ Fla St 6PM Santa Clara @ Cal 7PM Lehigh @ Miami FLO College 8PM Stanford vs Arizona 1PM Pitt @ W Mich 6:30 Notre Dame @ FAU (FAU.TV) Victory (Puerto Rico Tourn) 7:30 Seton Hall vs BC 2:30 Wash vs NC State 4PM Wm & Mary @ Va Tech (none) ** Edited by 5thFloorLee at 2/10/2026, 11:29:02 AM

Any tips for watching the tournament in Arlington?

Is FLO part of any sports TV package that a bar might have? I used up my free trial watching us at Charleston a couple years ago.

Dream scenario for NCAA baseball

* Upsets & late inning comebacks throughout the regionals. * All parts of the country and 6 or 7 conferences represented. * 13 SEC teams in, only 2 come out * A 4 seed goes to Omaha If they wrote a script it would look like this,

How do you let Walker McDuffie lose both games in relief?

Yesterday in 2/3 of an inning he gave up 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 WP and 4 earned runs. And you bring him in the next day with the season on the line?

...playing against another Hokie tonight - TJ Rumfield

Rumfield is in the Yankees organization, originally drafted by Phillies in the 12th round in 2021.

June 4 - Tanner Schoebel up to AAA St Paul Saints

One step away from the Big Show. He's got Brooks Lee (CalPoly) ahead of him already playing short for the Twins. Lee was drafted #8 overall the same year Tanner was drafted #68. Tanner is now playing 3B for the Saints so maybe they are trying to find a spot for him.

The NCAAT / SEC Invitational starts Friday

29 conferences in the tournament The SEC gets: 12 of the 35 at large bids 8 of the 16 regional host spots 6 of the 8 Super Regional host spots
