Lebanon HS wins 1A baseball over Auburn with a no-hitter
There are pitchers all over VA. Not sure why we can’t get guys who can throw strikes & get outs

1st year coach Compton replaced legend coach Doc Adams - whose older
brother Paul (Clang) Adams was a Hokie football & baseball star.

Doc Adam’s coached at Lebanon
so long that I played against him in 1986, and he just retired last year.

Competition not great at that level.
Lowest classification in Va I believe.

They only lost to Tennessee High during regular season. Beat perennial
power Class 3 Abingdon twice and Abingdon made it to state quarter finals.

Sigh 🙄. FYI Lebanon defeated class 4 playoff team Halifax too. No hitters
In State title game still to me show some serious talent Even if the guy could pitch a scoreless inning or two out of the bullpen it’d be an improvement over what we have ** Edited by hokiepro at 6/11/2023, 5:37:52 PM ** Edited by hokiepro at 6/13/2023, 9:06:08 AM

So let me make sure I understand your position…
A high school pitcher throws a NO-NO in a ONE A state chip……and TO YOU, that makes him project as an automatic cant miss arm in the ACC…. And you support that notion because they also beat Halifax……noting that they’re classed as 5A??? Halifax is 4A by the way and it’s NOT one of the better Halifax squads that I have PERSONALLY seen in the past couple decades. Oh yeah, you also played Legion ball back in the day….. Have you talked to Whit? A guy with your chops has to be on the short list once your keyboard pecking runs him outta here Your stuff is tired man. Many share your frustration….but postering this blathering continues to lessen your credibility and makes you just sound like a whiny lady dog. The pitching woes are troubling. Weycker was absolutely dominant in his debut in the Cape last night. His stuff (including command) was absolutely filthy. We didn’t see that out of him this year. Lots of grumbling that this is a Fecteau problem but don’t see any moves being made there Bring something meaningful to the conversation Smalls ** Edited by The Gobbler at 6/12/2023, 10:46:18 AM

Weycker was good for us but is gone now
Why are you jumping all over me AND criticizing Fecteau by name when what I posted could also be taken as a critique of him not recruiting/finding and developing local talent? It’s great that we got one of the top local arms from Roanoke (Dean) but under Fecteau he was a basket case who couldn’t throw a strike and transferred We do have an arm from 2A state champs Patrick Co (Swails). Maybe I was calling attention to a guy who we’re already recruiting maybe not but he sure seemed to perform well in the biggest spot he’s been in so far Yeah I can be a bit over the top during games and in certain criticisms but let me know who the heck you are to know it all too!?

Wow you took A LOT from a comment stating that there are very good pitchers
All over VA. And that we could probably use some of these guys to get outs. 😂 geez. Maybe I was looking for more info on the guy. Lebanon only lost 2 games (back to back days to Tennessee High) and this guys lost none. All I’m saying is maybe he’s being looked at…and if he’s not maybe he should be Where’d you get “can’t miss ACC prospect” from THAT? Good grief! And excuse the hell out of me for missing when Halifax moved down to 4A ** Edited by hokiepro at 6/13/2023, 6:43:02 AM ** Edited by hokiepro at 6/13/2023, 6:44:17 AM

Well Shucks... I guess we pull scholarship from Tucker Swails
I mean geez... he only plays at 2A Patrick County. Who needs that kind of a kid in the program. No way he can compete. I'm actually getting sick of some of the responses on here by some people.

We really should’ve never recruited that James Mitchell guy for football
And I bet UVA regrets that Heath Miller guy from Honaker they recruited I wonder why anyone would recruit a 5’9 lefty from Tazewell VA just because he could throw 95 mph? I guess nobody (except Ferrum) did. The level of competition is a consideration when evaluating film but talent dominates at that level. That’s what this particular kid did…that’s all I’m saying

I don't think.....
the original comment had anything to do with pulling a scholarship already offered to a kid. It did rightly assert that level of competition is a valid consideration in projecting where a kid might be able to play and indiscriminately expecting a kid's hs stats to translate to collegiate success is not necessarily a direct line correlation.

Sure it’s not. BUT diamonds are found in small schools; Tincher, B Wagner
Brad Clontz. Just to name a few. I’m only making a point…does the kid have to be a travel showcase star to be recruited? IDK about this particular pitcher but the point is there’s talent out there in small schools also…some places where kids can’t afford to play or can’t get to a travel team (again I DO NOT know this kid’s situation). I will say that Auburn has won 2 titles the last 5 years and scored a bunch of runs in some playoff games leading up to that. I’m only making the point that there’s pitching talent around to be developed and there’s quite a bit of it in VA

Methinks you doth protest......
too much, among other things. My comment was a reply to Virtual Hokie and my interpretation of the post he was responding to. It had absolutely nothing to do with you or your original post. As far as your reply to me goes, nobody is disputing that talent cannot be found in all places, big or small. Also, I do not disagree with the rest of what you said either but, I can tell you I would have never come up with that interpretation reading your original post.
