have to replace 10-12 pitchers going into the 2027 season where guys like Marciano, Kulik and Cowen would have been key pitchers. As it stands now, we will likely have 8 senior pitchers on the 2026 roster that would definitely need to be replaced (Stieg, Weber, Smith, Roe, Exum, Craytor, Yagesh, Berzonski) and then very likely 4 or 5 more juniors/draft eligible sophomores that have the talent to go pro (Renfrow, Robertson, Clements, Crowl are all pro prospects if they are healthy and then Swift will be a draft-eligible sophomore). For 2027, that leaves us with potentially just Logan Eisenreich (JR in 2027), Ethan Grim (SO in 2027), Tyler Stone (SO in 2027), Austin Dean (SO in 2027) plus maybe one other 2025 pitching recruit that makes it to 2027 out of Weston Lillard, Ryan Walsh, Jake Wise and Colin Woolard and then whatever 2026 recruits that make it to Blacksburg. I am sure we'll mine the portal heavily to compensate but Coach Szefc has said multiple times that the transfers we are able to attract aren't usually at the caliber of the HS recruits we can land.
