I liked Kulik's potential but it looks like between our other returning and incoming arms, we likely couldn't match the type of NIL (and possibly innings) he was looking for. I'm honestly still impressed we were able to keep Renfrow, fend off the Texas Rangers for Robertson and fend off Alabama+the Seattle Mariners for Stieg. In any case, Kulik wouldn't have been a starter over Renfrow, Robertson and Stieg and he would have been competing for a long relief role with Madden Clement, Logan Eisenreich, Ben Weber (incoming Xavier transfer), Preston Crowl, Brendan Yagesh and Chase Swift. He was behind Crowl, Eisenreich, Swift and Yagesh last year in terms of usage and likely would have been behind Clement as well so he arguably would be entering this fall as our 9th or 10th arm (which doesn't even factor in Luke Craytor). He has had a good summer in the NECBL but so did Yagesh and both Crowl and Swift pitched in the Cape so his ability to make a major leap in our bullpen was going to be limited so even if he doesn't pitch a ton at Auburn, I would assume he at least could earn more money there and in a more prestigious league.
