Posting History (301)

Upcoming!

Bo Bassett is 170-0 in his HS career, and he won all of his matches by the second period in the state championships.

She has found her new career

Nice to see Liz Kitley on the ACC network. Mark Packer predicted this way back on Packer and Durham. Really miss that show!

Answer to your question

From the 24/7 board Glad I did not bash Pry! I wanted to give a shout out to coach Pry for remaining loyal to Virginia Tech after being relieved of his coaching duties. He had nothing but good things to say about VT, even letting Franklin stay at his house during this process.

A PSU fan posted this on the 24/7 boatd

Penn State fan here. Just wanted to give you all a real warning on James Franklin from someone who watched every single year of his ten seasons. You guys have no idea how lucky you are. You’re going to fall for him immediately. He’s the kind of leader who completely changes the tone of a program the second he walks in. His players absolutely love him. In ten years I can honestly say I never heard a former player say a single bad thing about him. They’d run through a wall for him. As someone who worked within athletics during my time at PSU in the 2010s, I can tell you there's a lot that the public doesn't know about JF's tenure. That would put him in an even better light. It's truly remarkable what he was able to do post-Paterno. Quick personal note about Franklin. When he was hired in 2014, my dad and I ended up at his intro event in Harrisburg. He pulled us aside and talked with us privately for more than 30 minutes. Years later, when I was a student, he always remembered me by name whenever I saw him on campus. He always stopped, said hi, shook my hand, and treated me like he actually cared. Amazing coach, even better person. His record here was 104–45 and he gave us double digit win seasons like they were normal, all while dealing with the toughest division in the country. He recruited way above what our NIL setup should have allowed, and somehow kept the roster together while everyone else was losing half their team every offseason. The guy just has a way of getting everyone to buy in. I’m crushed we fired him. I think VT is about to become a powerhouse in the ACC and I’m insanely jealous. He’s walking into a conference he can dominate, in a region he recruits better than almost anyone, with fans who already seem excited. Honestly, your future looks brighter than ours right now and that hurts to admit. I’m actually happy for him though. He’s finally going somewhere he'll be appreciated the way he should have been here. You all got a great one. Take care of him.

Just renewed but I cannot get access to the subscribers board

Interesting

Conference makes a difference but interesting stat Wins since 1995 #1 Ohio St - 325 #14 Virginia Tech - 258 #15 Penn St - 254

Good points

Agree but at what cost? Mike Elko is making 7mm for 6 years and Brent Key is making 4mm. Those numbers will be going up, but it gave the teams a chance to see if they would pan out before they gave them the big $. There have been allot of recent examples of paying large long term $ to Coaches that have not worked out.

You got that right Chesney would be a better choice

Franklin's career record against AP-ranked top-10 teams, including his time as a head coach at both Vanderbilt and Penn State, is currently 4-26. That includes a 1-18 record (.053) against top-5 squads, and Franklin is also 17-36 overall (.321) against AP Top 25 ranked teams in general. When trimming those numbers to his Penn State tenure alone, Franklin's top-5 record is 1-15 (.063), top-10 record is 4-21 (.167) and top-25 record is 16-29 (.364).

James Franklin

How much is he worth? James Franklin's record against top 10 teams during his tenure at Penn State was 4 wins and 21 losses, giving him a winning percentage of .160, which is among the lowest for a coach with a significant number of games against ranked opponents. This poor performance in high-stakes games contributed to his recent firing. What makes you think he could do better at VT? He is probably the best choice for immediate results, but winning a natty is not going to happen.

Crazy stat

128 offensive yards 100 penalty yards lowest net ever so far. Record low net yards?

Wow

60 minutes of no scoring while giving up 62 points and more penalty yards than yards gained!

Miss those days

Well at least my wife and I got to hang out with our daughter and her college friends when we were somewhat good and we got to experience a College game day

He was struggling with the first batter

Should have pulled him after the first batter. You could clearly see he was out of gas.
