But, I'm adjusting to "Hokies bailing on Hokies". That ship is sailing quickly. It's a new era. Sadly, I suppose. We have no problem celebrating incoming players bailing on their former schools. If they help us win, we love them. We give them the "This is home" welcome for perhaps one year of mercenary service, with pay. I find that female athletes are often judged differently than male athletes. If a dude can leave VT early to go to the NFL or the NBA, they are not necessarily labeled as someone who is bailing on the Hokies. They are perhaps capitalizing on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. It's accepted as cool, because of the $$$. If a female basketball player, softball player, etc., left with a Covid year of eligibility, as Amoore and others did, she's considered "bailing". Maybe that player did it for her small share of a money pie, too? Or what she considers in her best interest for a pro career? Who are we to say they shouldn't leave like the guys do? It's making more sense to me, even though I hate it. I give Amoore credit for staying in Blacksburg 4.5 years. A teen Aussie kid, from half way across the planet. She stayed far longer than many of our VT Sports Hall of Famers, and she is a graduate of VT. I imagine some of those sports heroes, and some posters on this board, can not say the same. That said, I agree, there will be no honors for Amoore in Cassell. Life goes on.

A VT grad is a Hokie, same as any other student. Let's not hold athletes to a different standard, where post-undergrad opportunities are ignored. All dues have been paid. Do what you feel is best for you, young Hokies. Live your life, and don't worry about the LABELS, or the outside noise. If ESPN wants to call her a Wildcat or whatever, for one mercenary year at Kentucky, go ahead. It does not erase history made in Blacksburg. She's as much a Hokie as you are. Just a lot more famous.

Try taking that away from her. You can't. She can be "both" if she wants. She has the heart for it.

her original UT staff changed several times. As a Tenn native, and former Lady Vol, Harper knew the territory very well, from day one. She ended up with some good recruiters, but the really big wins never came. Many blamed the coaching.

If they pick a different grad school, for personal reasons, so be it. They've earned the right. Amoore has been in Blacksburg for 4.5 years. She doesn't owe us another year. If not for Covid, this would have never been an issue. She's 23 years old, not a child. I may not like her choice, but I respect her right to do what she wants. Compared to a host of successful athletes at VT who transferred out, she's paid her dues more than just about all of them.

Mackenzie Nelson and Gabby Brooks (who is nonscholarship) will both redshirt this season. Coach Brooks said, in reference to Nelson, "No need to burn a year. She needs to get a little bit stronger and learn to play defense a little bit better." Brooks said that King, Wenzel, and Suffren can back up Amoore. Starting lineup tomorrow will be Kitley, Amoore, King, and Ekh, with fifth player still to be determined, as High Point plays a five-guard lineup, Brooks is considering a more guard oriented defender. Brooks quote: "We're going to be a work in progress for a while....it's not going to be as smooth as we would like early." Let's go Hokies!

Hmm....that's a huge difference from this year's team, with a fifth year grad, K.T. sliding over to play the Point. Her vast experience was crucial.

I noticed that yesterday's two verbal commitments, both thanked Coach Brooks, Coach Hicks, Coach Porcha, and Coach Rad. @CoachRadVT is the Twitter handle for Radvile Autukaite, who has been on staff for years. Initially as a Grad Assistant, and "currently" listed as Player Personnel Specialist. Until recently, she used a different handle that did not include the word "coach". One might surmise that she is the other new assistant coach, still unannounced. I'm not an insider, so I have no problem mentioning this. What do y'all think, other than that Coach Rad sounds like a cool name?

ND won't lower themselves to join the ACC for football, but they need/want the ACC in all other sports. Leaves me feeling salty. I'm not going to all of a sudden start rooting for them when former Hokies transfer there. Nothing against the kids, themselves.

Sounds like Kenny wants one "Big"(C/PF) and one Guard. Then "maybe" a stretch forward. We need post players, don't we? We seem to have half as many posts as guards. We need a Big to back up Kitley, but if she can't run the floor, they will likely not play much at the same time. Kitley needs help on the floor, in the paint. Somebody with an attitude. A slightly taller Baptiste clone would be ideal. Baptiste also had a good outside shot, to stretch the floor. I would want a true Center and 2 Forwards, then maybe a guard.

For whatever reason, women's basketball players seem to have more extended injuries than men's basketball players. If you just compare the two VT teams, the difference is jarring. Between the injuries and the quick transfers out, Kenny's teams have been short staffed for his entire stint here. All six seasons. Why not pack the team a bit more, and let the chips fall where they may? The disgruntled will leave anyway.

If you'd told me before the game that we'd score 81 points and lose, I would have doubted you. I knew FGCU could shoot lights out, but I thought our Defense would step up today. We did not defend the 3 ball well, at all. But again, give the opponent credit. They know how to get open looks.
