Posting History (491)

7-5 is reasonable but

That won’t happen if our defense is worse than last year which is what u implied the position grp break down, The D was really bad last year if we are any worse, it is going to be a long season. That said I think we will be better across the board, which pretty much has to happen to more than double your win total.

The Lounge 1 mo ago

It’s just funny that’s all

As a native Virginian, it certainly doesn’t matter to me. And it is a great song!

The Lounge 1 mo ago

John Denver…

Had never even set foot in west va when he wrote rhe song, he is actually from New Mexico. The song is geographically misleading-the vast majority of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River are in Virginia and the β€œcountry road” that inspired the song is in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Sounds like you are searching

To blame something on Pry. Sometimes guys go elsewhere

Semi-Pro?

They are just younger (in many cases not that young) pros

Historically, Hokie starting qbs do not improve

and generally get worse the longer they are starters I think Tyrod may have been the last guy that actually got betterβ€” which is crazy Hopefully Grunk can reverse the curse

I call bs on this β€œdata”

You have the outgoing edges at 90– where are Burgos and Djonkam rated a 90? On 247-Jeannette was rated a 90 as a JUCO not a transfer is that what you are using? He got .5 a sack and 9 tackles for us last year. This is pretty far off from reality.

Kind of a prove it situation

There have been other years (2018) where they have had better teams or at least comparable teams but they tend to shrink when they see us lined up across from them. Let’s hope some of the ghosts of Black Fridays past show up again!!

Hard to understand why

this is an issue for anyone. We’ve struggled over the last decade just getting to bowl games-are we really going to complain that hiring Franklin isn’t a guarantee that we’ll get past the semis of the college football playoff

Switzer was a pawn in the JJ wars

wouldn’t call him a successful nfl head coach. He won an SB as a bus rider on an already great team that added Deion for good measure. If anything that tarnished Switzer’s reputation as a great college coach into sort of a clown.

Some posters here are really big Fu supporters

And get very aggressive when you criticize him. You almost never see this type of reaction to posters who are critical of Beamer, which is weird considering the guy is a legend

It has become the anti-VT board

I remember the days when UVA and VT posters used to talk trash to each other. Now if VT wins you talk trash to all the haters who constantly ***** and moan about everyone and everything associated with the program.

Should every ACC school

That finished tied or worse than VTs football team fire their AD? I liked the CJF hire initially and I liked the Pry hire and am still pulling for him. At the same I am coming to the realization that Beamer was a generational level coach and we aren’t going to see that kind of success again in my lifetime. So we might as well just lower our expectations and be happy when we make it to a bowl game.

It is better then playing non-tackle tackle football

That was unwatchable. Is it great tv no, but at least they are competing

I know it is just message board opinions but

It’s kinda funny people who don’t know anything about the new dc are immediately deciding that this was a bad hire. I understand getting excited about 5* recruits and being disappointed with 3* guys but jumping to conclusions on a new d-coordinator? Why not just wait and see. Look at the commies, Quinn was like their 4th choice but so far that has worked out pretty well. The relentless negativity is pushing people away from this board.

Me too

Hate cowboys, hate jones, hate Deion, perfect match

No, people forget

At the start of the year everyone thought Caleb was positioned perfectly with the Bears with all the talent at the skill positions and strong defense, to win right away. Washington, on the other hand had tons of holes everywhere coming off a 4-13 season Not to mention being an utter failure for the better part of 30 years. Everyone expected a long rebuild. Give credit to Quinn but he was like the commies 3rd or 4th choice. Kingsbury is doing a good job but he went from being fired from the cardinals to some sort of savant. Sort of like Bill Walsh becoming an offensive genius AFTER he drafted Montana. The reality is Jayden is making everybody around him better which is the true mark of a great player. Caleb is talented but made a lot of rookie mistakes and in my opinion he would have struggled his first year no matter where he went.

It’s pretty tough to beat top 5 teams but

I did think we played nervous and did make almost unbelievable mistakes in a lot of big bowl games (not just top 5 teams) like the Auburn, Michigan and Kansas games come to mind. Some of that is on the coaches but they did get us there which they deserve a lot of credit for
