Good advice on the track team. I know several schools have also ...
started women's wrestling. That may be worth checking out. My son started wrestling for the first time his freshman year and loved it

PS- Leadership in HS. they do actually count the number of things you do...
volunteer, do tutoring, do clubs, obviously varsity sports is big, take leadership positions in those activities.

Joester- my son is waiting for final clearance right now for USMA...
for your daughter, strongly suggest: 1) SLE: https://www.westpoint.edu/admissions/summer-program. Summer of JR year. Some do both the WP & NA summer experiences. 2) there is CFA training held in northern VA- at Ft Belvoir. HS from regional US go to that, i highly recommend. 3) In addition to leadership in HS, try hard to get into Girl's State. This is all last part of Jr yr/Jr Summer. Then, you start the process. Regional recruiters also hold sessions- go to those. We met Eastern US head of recruting and many state reps there. Again, we did this JR year. Happy to answer Qs

PS- dont forget about the Academic Common Market...
Looking for a college degree not offered by a public institution in your home state? The Academic Common Market may be able to help. Many students qualify for in-state tuition to study at out-of-state institutions.

All depends on the person, more
Some very good advice given. CC for first two yrs, can be a good idea. BUT, i have seen some students get sucked down (that is, lose motivation) doing that. IF price is an option, i would suggest first two at RU or RoaCollege, to get an idea of direction and then transfer, if desired. RU would be very low cost- heck, she could live at home. Elon is talking merger- that would worry me. CNU does a good job. Longwood is okay, too. Fit is important, some kids will always think the last school they saw is the "best." We changed strategies and decided to visit after acceptances and actual costs (NOTE: retail is NOT what they will pay) come in. i have heard of local kids getting scholly's to Davidson, Alabama, UVA, etc.Wm & Mary may be a great option for her. Dont discount- especially if school is on common app and an additional application is low cost.

One more thing. My son did cfa "practice" at Ft Belvoir. Your rep can steer
You to this. Highly recommend to figure out where she is relative to the cfa. I am told half the kids at sle did not pass cfa there. WP uses more strict standards than others

You apply early spring Jr year, attend sum b/w Jr/sr
However, make the connections with regional reps before this. Many congress folk also have information sessions you can attend to meet them and academy reps

Fyi... recommend the sle...
https://www.westpoint.edu/admissions/summer-program. My boy just did it and had a great time. We were told that corps/ROTC application is recommended- shows commitment to serve

I have had the Joule and Anova
the Joule worked well but broke after 1.5 years. The Anova has been going strong for 3+ years, but i have done some repair work on it. I dont care about wife or bluetooth, but i would suggest the most power you can get IF, like me, you are heating up and circulating a large amount of water. since i dont think they are the most durable items, i think kj is on to something- go most power and a lower priced model
