Posting History (111)

Had fun In Charlotte yesterday despite the split

This was the first VT softball game I've seen and got to take my two teenagers. And after 25+ years on these boards I met @laphroaig and @VTChip as well! The TSL jersey with the handle on the back was a giveaway lol.

Agree with you on Clemson, but make no doubt we have our own egomaniac now

And no one minds when you're winning, but when things go south it becomes a point of criticism. Just ask PSU fans.

They're consistently asking insightful and reasoned questions too.

I get annoyed when reporters ask questions in a leading manner to elicit the answer they want. "How impressed were you with so and so's defense?" vs "Assess how so and so played defense tonight". The latter is way more likely to get a quality answer.

Minor league baseball is not for the meek. Tough way to make a living.

I read John Feinstein's "Where Nobody Knows Your Name" and it really paints a picture of how tough it is.

Here's a recent article on 2024 bowl economics and the future.

Answered quite a few questions Ive had. Notably, attendance will not be that important going forward.

I blame Texas for starting all this mess with their Longhorn Network

Probably not entirely fair but I'll stick with it. Hoping for a sinkhole to open up in this game.

Interesting, and I wonder what analysis led to the 4 hour radius?

I'm sure there are states where a majority of alumni are 4+ hours from the school, yet constitute a bulk of the viewing. Maybe not ACC schools though ... Unbundling will continue to push us towards a subscription sports model. ** Edited by Hokie Bird at 9/12/2024, 11:56:27 AM

Since FSU was hoodwinked into unlawful contract against their will

They're welcome to repay the last 10 years of revenue, plus interest. I'm sure the ACC would listen. That would be in the neighborhood of $400MM.😆

Great atmosphere. Fortuitous a local school is in the game

Sadly the NIT is dying a slow death, and the new Fox tournament may really destroy it.

Frustrating game, but on a positive note, Collins offense was solid again

I know we've bashed his offense plenty this year, but feels like something clicked the last few games. He's certainly a better slasher than jump shooter, and maybe he's taken a more concerted effort to attack that way?

Miami 's Coach Retweeted Cunningham's Comment About the Technical

Implication here is that she's still wondering why it was called too, lol. ** Edited by Hokie Bird at 3/8/2024, 9:14:52 PM

Anyone know if Burnop is okay?

I caught a glimpse of him in the background during the Louisville game. Unless it was weird angles, his left eye looked rough. Like ... awful.

Kenny Brooks Postgame (link)

Wish someone had asked him about our approach when Louisville started trapping off the screen. We seemed to struggle getting into our offense. Guarantee we'll see that again.

Wes Moore Postgame

Good insight from their side. Plenty of credit for us.

I think we're fortunate to have a back loaded schedule

While you'd love to have more hay in the barn at this point, I'm not sure we had our rotations dialed in until recently. Looking down the stretch, we have one of the hardest schedules remaining of the contenders, but are in a much better place to take those on.
