It was so weird how they collapsed in playoffs

Especially under Boudreau. They lit up the lamp during the season. Then the playoffs came and teams said "no you don't". It's like they were just only built for the regular season.

Ready Player Two is along the same lines and pretty good

I liked both the books for its nerdie 80's references and interesting thriller style. If looking for Sci-Fi reads here are a couple I liked this past year. The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch Wayward Pines (trilogy books) by Blake Crouch (mini TV series but not as good as books) Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (Apple TV series) Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (movie coming out soon) ** Edited by DallasHokie98 at 11/30/2025, 9:24:16 AM ** Edited by DallasHokie98 at 11/30/2025, 9:24:38 AM

Par for the course for Dylan. No stage presence

He's a troubadour and songwriter. Not much else. I've only seen him on TV but I've never seen anything different. I've heard that he mixes up his live sets so much sometimes you have no idea what you are gong to get.

use match() function but Excel is finicky about alphanumeric order

I don't recall if that is true with the match() function. Also use match_type = 0.

Am I in minority that actually likes the name Commanders?

I don't hate it. Sure I miss the Skins. Yet I kind of like the new identity. Also Snyder has stained Skins legacy so much that I'm okay with the new look and name.

about GT leaving SEC. funny

"Jan. 24, 1964: Georgia Tech leaves the SEC to go independent, mostly because of coach Bobby Dodd’s opposition to a rule limiting schools to 140 football and basketball scholarships. Others were complying by running off players that didn’t pan out, which Dodd refused to do. “Tech stands to make a considerable gain financially by its withdrawal from the conference,” wrote United Press International. “Under SEC regulations, Georgia Tech had to share with other league members its proceeds from its numerous postseason bowl games and television appearances.” Georgia Tech’s old friends in the SEC will soon be making about $30 million per year more than its current friends in the ACC, which it joined 19 years later."

My son is the same although more a DIII level

We visited one university baseball coach. After that visit after finding out it is a 365, 24/7 grind my son was not really that interested in collegiate athletics. Frankly I'm glad the coach didn't blow smoke at him.

Every year the same thing in college football. I believe solutions exist

The only real way to fix college football is to have a round robin tournament like March Madness. Hence the desire to have a 12 team playoff. Yet I don't think that is the only solution. You need better scheduling during the season. ALA and UGA have no business playing teams that would barely have a win in SEC. Solutions 1) Expand CFB playoffs (done and coming) 2) Force P5 schools to only schedule each other 3) Develop school tiers like highschool based on criteria such as student size, athletic revenue, tv revenue. Only schedule within tier. Perhaps allow one game out of tier. 4) Develop true regional divisions and play for a regional championship i.e. NFL style. Regional champs play for CFB playoff spots

Too much waiting for a pass prior to Aaronson/Pepi

They controlled possession but lacked ideas on how to get behind the defensive lines. Aaronson and Pepi finally started to make those runs between the defenders and things opened up. Frankly I was disappointed in Tillman. Paredes just looked not ready.

is capitalism really at play? I would say a monopoly more likely

Or perhaps an oligarchy of university boards. NCAA has little control of the situation. The lack of oversight and lack of ability to utilize the free market has been restrictive in my view. There should not be a need to jump around among conferences. The collusion among schools and TV/media has created this nightmare.

I think there are some good and bad with this VT team

The good. Guards will be a strength again. Shooting will be great. This team can play fast when they want to do it. Surprising strong post presence with Kidd/Poteat so far this year. The bad. Lack of athleticism at forward position. Mutts-type is missing. I think Coach Young depends on a player that can do the junkyard stuff on offense and defense in his system on the frontcourt. I haven't seen it yet. Also if this team goes in a scoring funk it is tough to make up elsewhere.

Be careful. I'm hearing more and more people are using guns on the road

I tell my wife to just not even use the horn anymore. I know I'm in TX and that is the stereotype. Yet I'm hearing it happening everyone. There is a serious problem in America now.

Oppenheimer is fantastic

I'm already a big Christoper Nolan fan but this movie is really good. Robert Downey Jr stole the show (again).

I think the datacenter market has softened

I believe there hasn't been nearly the growth in datacenters as expected. The lack of servers is hurting the big CPU suppliers.

Here's a pic of Andromeda in night sky compared to the Moon

Somehow someone over-exposed the Andromeda galaxy to show what it would look like if it was a bright as the Moon or brighter stars. Really fascinating.

I'm not sure Gruene is worth a day trip but Fredricksburg would

New Braunfels is great if you want to do the lazy river/intertube fun. Fredricksburg has all of the tourist dives but also the WWII Pacific/Nimitz museum. Also a lot of good scenic drives in the area. San Antonio has the Riverwalk which is pretty neat along with seeing the Alamo. Waco has Magnolia (Gaines fame) if that is your thing. For eating stick to the 3 texas food groups. BBQ, Tex Mex, and Steak. Salt Lick for Austin is good suggestion. Lockharts BBQ is also good.

Wonder why unmanned drones can't provide the same support

Perhaps there is a human element they need with support. Yet it seems a drone can accomplish a lot of the same things with cheaper the cost and maintenance. I'm not in the industry so just speculating.

hopefully you had a deposit

It's wise to require a one month rent deposit. Then at the end of the lease pay back deposit less damages or repairs. Bad tenets usually don't even ask for the deposit back.

I have DirecTV streaming and I think they jacked up the prices

I had ATT streaming TV with intenet and phone and the total was just under $200. Now DirectTV Streaming alone is close to $200. It's a bait and switch scheme for sure. I wish I had more choices.

I visited several years back. It's hard to visit unless intentional.

One of the bad things about Blacksburg is that it is out of the way of many city centers. I wish that weren't the case.

Agree. SciFi is hard to get right for some reason

Here are some SciFi series I have liked Battlestar Galactica (newish series, 80s series good too) Helix (same writers as Galactica) Dark (on netflix) Glitch (on netflix) Les Revenants (used to be on netflix)

Regardless of how you feel about Cruise he knows the formula

He knows what works in Hollywood and generally it's always a good product. I can't wait to see it.
