There is a strange quirk about people who fire a coach and then follow him

to harass not the coach they fired but the people who hired the coach they just happened to discard. Reminds me of the mindlessness of a stalker who cannot control any impulse.

Tight game with very good pitching on both sides. VT had

solid chances to take it. Really proud of this team and they were so close to ACC champs. Hope this gets them focused and hungry for the NCAA tourney. The team and their season has been a major enjoyment for this old man.

From my perspective Kenny generally prepared his team well and

could make adjustments, although not quick enough for some. I think he knew what he had from a talent perspective and either had assistants work with players or he did directly with some obvious success. Doesn’t really matter now. My great disappointment is seeing the sudden dissipation of stability in the program. With the new hire comes new hope. While Carleigh and others may stay, convincing Kenny’s recruits to come to VT would be a phenomenal miracle. Most recruits come for development and coaching. Getting them to believe you can take them to the same or higher level the coach to which they committed is a tough task. I surely would love to see that top class keep their commitments to VT but I have to be a realist. Here is to hoping Duffy brings to VT the best BIG coach on the East Coast!

What gets me about Georgia and people saying go get the money is I don’t

get it. Yes, I guess she’ll make money from something. Maybe I missed the whole NIL change for non US citizens. If she is looking for money and to fulfill her dreams, it seems to me she would look for that first round draft, use that as leverage to get top dollar in Europe and do what she talked about over the past several years which is play and travel Europe. I don’t get her one year at Kentucky as there are lots of things that could lessen her leverage for a good contract in Europe or the US and very little that would move her up higher in the draft.

Great game, competitive teams, marvelous season with a tough and

an unfortunate, premature ending caused mainly by an injury to the best and most impactful women’s basketball player I’ve seen at VT. However, like any great twosome, the team of Liz and Georgia will be remembered as the ideal for a long time, mainly because of their skills, but even more so, their demeanor, positive representation, and their attractive personalities. So many other contributions from so many other teammates have built this brand with them. It is now hard to turn this page and end this chapter but at my age, I know there are chapters still forthcoming. Hear hear to many more wonderful years of VT women’s basketball…for those who have left, for all of those to come and for all of us who just hang around to cherish what we have in this university. And Coach Brooks is Va Tech.

Wenzel was tighter than a tick. She looked like she was playing scared

and just needs to relax and increase her court awareness. ** Edited by 74hokie at 3/9/2024, 9:45:01 AM ** Edited by 74hokie at 3/9/2024, 10:25:02 AM
