Lot of our guys up 2-3 weight classes from where they wrestle at. Obviously if you go over at all you get bumped but it just seems like a lot

Those weights are the weights they would have had to wrestle on day 1 after certifying back in early fall. That establishes the baseline for how much they can lose and how quickly. If you look across the board, literally everyone, everywhere will be listed 2-3 weight classes more than they actually wrestle...

I should have offered an explanation....
So maybe back at the end of October, Joe Schmo weighed in at 184.1 pounds...he would be listed as a 197. And would have a date (very soon) where he's allowed to make 184...and probably another date a couple weeks later where he would be allowed to compete at 174 (provided he lost the weight on the approved schedule). If Joe was carrying a lot of body fat back then, he may even have another later date at which he could compete at 165.

For instance, my son started at 152.7 and was basically allowed to drop 1/3 of a pound a day. So last night (his first dual), he needed to weigh between 142.99 and 144.0 in order to make weight. Below 142.99 and he wouldn't have been able to wrestle because he lost *too* much weight, according to the weight loss plan.
And just in case anyone was wondering, he weighed in at 144.0 (even with a 2 pound allowance)! Made scratch on the very first dual. Also he pinned his kid. Huzzahs all around!

When I wrestled the lowest weight was 123. I never weighed more than 120. On a trip, the heavy weight and I enjoyed every meal.

I was usually pretty weak from cutting weight.
