I don't post over here much, but here goes:
We got this email today re: Wrestling
" Another wrestling season is upon us, and we’re excited about what lies ahead for our athletes. The coming months present both challenges and opportunities as we continue to develop and set our sights on Cleveland and the NCAA Championships.
As someone who has supported the SERTC this year, you are playing a pivotal role in building one of the most respected and competitive teams in the country. Your generosity continues to provide our program with the resources needed to climb the ranks of the wrestling world. Your loyal support of the SERTC and Virginia Tech is noticed — and deeply appreciated.
The SERTC provides our athletes with international training and competition opportunities, elite performance resources, a world-class coaching staff, and does community outreach through partnership deals with the area’s best wrestlers—all fueling our ability to bring the nation’s best to Blacksburg.
Looking ahead, we must continue to increase our investment in these areas and double down on our efforts with the goal of Bringing the Best to Blacksburg and winning a National Championship.
To turn this vision into reality, we’re launching the “Bring the Best to Blacksburg” campaign. Our two-pronged approach is to surpass 350 donors for the first time and to continue increasing funding to the SERTC. Because you’ve already given philanthropically this season, you’re included in our current donor count. At the same time, we’re asking those who are able to consider increasing their gift by 10% or moving up to the next SERTC membership level.
Every dollar directly impacts the student-athletes in the Virginia Tech Wrestling room and gives us the ability to attract and retain the very best talent in the country.
Thank you for being on our team—and for helping to “Bring the Best to Blacksburg.” I look forward to seeing you in Cassell Coliseum this season"
Now, this is fund raising. Kudos to Robie, staff and SERTC. It subtly thanks for past giving, asks for additional/continued , giving, and makes me want to give. Funny thing is, while we give to SERTC, we've never been to a match. But, this motivates me to go.

They keep you updated about the team with emails and donor Zoom sessions. They have socials after the matches where you meet the wrestlers and their families. And they are a good team whose matches are fun to attend in Cassell and Moss.

His podcast I linked below talks about how he's at every football game not necessarily for the game, but to interact with the donors there.

VT the university should be showering them with love and support! Ifnit weren't for Robie and @VTChip they'd get less than scraps. Makes ZERO sense. None.

But I actually think it's possible, albeit unlikely, if we can keep the momentum and sign a a few more elite class of 27 guys. Everything would have to go right for us though, and a few things wrong for Penn State. They have so much more depth than they did when Ohio State or Iowa beat them.

Penn State has built a reputation for developing champions. If you want to win a title, they're an obvious choice for recruits. Maybe our staff would be just as successful with the same talent, but the perception is a huge hurdle to overcome.

just got that we never thought possible. Keep stacking. Eventually VT Wrestling is gonna crash through that ceiling!
The one attribute of VT Wrestling that all teams ar VT could use is the Toughness. Never Quit.

REQUIRED to get what I want, then I only give to SERTC and softball (via @VTChip ). SERTC and softball make me want to give/support, the Hokie Club just mandates it.
