Dunbar to hoos
Been friends with kitchen on social media for a bit . Also there coach announced upcoming commit three weeks ago. It was Dunbar . VT simply not high on her as they are others.

Might turn out to be a very good player, but not a position of need and hate to lose to hoos. If she wasn’t good enough for us Duffy wouldn’t have offered

It doesn’t mean the staff is pushing for the player, or that it’s even committable. VT is in a very good spot for a bunch of guards and wings that are more than likely higher on VT’s board (I’ve listed those I’m aware of below).
Divine Bourrage- 5 Star 5’10 G
Caliyah DeVillasee- 4 star 5’7” PG
Destiny Lunan- 4 Star 5’9” PG
Harissoum Coulibaly- 5’10” G
Agot Makeer- 5 star 6’1” W
Nyla Brooks- 5 star 6’1” W
Kaelyn Carroll- 5 Star 6’2” W
Zhen Craft- 4 Star 6’2” W/F
Maddie Parrish- 4 Star 6’0” W

An Offer that was not pushed for a Commitment Type of Offer, we really have other needs other than Dunbar and in staff's eyes better prospects to fill those needs

so talented, and so close to home, as soon as I got to Tech. Women’s basketball has 15 scholarships. Plenty of room to add a local star. Dunbar, a lifelong Hokie fan, who apparently willing to redshirt, might just turn out to be very good. We all know that the roster may have different needs as early as next year because of the portal. Perplexing to me if we didn’t pursue her aggressively.

we would know him in the way we know him now. He was a big fish in a little pond at Davidson and the rest is history.

So your advice is that coaches, against their better judgement, should add
any and all VT player's progeny plus players who grew up within 30 miles of VT? There aren't enough roster spots by a factor of 100.
And it's a dumb premise anyway that coaches should add players they don't think will upgrade the roster.

campus has her offer list, and I have 15 scholarships, I would likely take a chance on her. We all know in today’s environment if she didn’t work out, she would be gone on a year or two. If she becomes all ACC, the decision will be lamented on this board for a while.

talent she played against. She'll probably never see the court at hooville much, if ever. Radford would have been a good potential landing site for her.

to my daughter- who was never going to play. I support Coach Duffy 100% and she has her own plan. I simply posted what I would have done. If I were speculating about the men’s team, and there was a similar kid available, I would not have made the same decision. 15 scholarships hardly ever get used. That is the difference.

Assuming that Tech is her dream school…
And I don’t know that personally to be a fact but several people have alluded that to be the case so let’s assume that is true. If Tech was her dream school AND she was a top tier, priority recruit for Coach Duffy, then she would have selected Virginia Tech.

I'm going to say something I may have heard.
How a recruiting visit goes can play a big role on where they go.

that. I guess that’s why she picked UVA.

I suspect that is how it played out..
Coach Duffy liked her but she wasn’t at the top of the list and there were others the staff liked better. She might have even wanted the decision date to have been in September rather than yesterday so she could get more clarity with other prospects. But you can’t take your # 5 (theoretically) prospect when numbers 1-4 are still in play. I would have been greatly disappointed if it had played out that way.

on the optics of the hometown player and 15 scholarships. And our biggest rival getting her commitment.

Is that "local star" going to be happy if she is stuck at #13 - #15 on the
roster? Duffy is trying to upgrade every position on the roster, not add locals to ride pine so somehow the weird NRV-obsessive fan can be happy.

Seems to be targeting lots of prospects in her old stomping grounds in the midwest.

I don’t believe we aggressively recruited her.
But we shall see.
