Ah yes, the children have arrived to tell us all why they are
basketball experts and how bad a HC Duffy is and was this game. Same drivel after any loss.

What’s your take wise one?
I saw a massive choke tonight. When it’s crunch time, I came to realize Carleigh is not a PG and shouldn’t be handling the ball. Love MD and love seeing her on the sideline, but I bet She wishes a re-do. VT should have won this game.

For some reason we could not handle their defense. All game - not just
at the end. At the very beginning of the ganme we had some really crisp screens and that is when Matilda was playing clean off the screen and getting those little floating jumpers. And a couple of time we got into the paint and either Rose made her play or Mackie to the layup. But we just could not do that consistently at all. I don;t know why. Almost no 3 point shots. We looked rushed and off kilter. I am not sure if they were making adjustments or we just could not cope with what they were sending us. If they had been shooting better in teh first half, they would have been leading by a bit by halftime I think. It is not like we played well and faltered at the end. We never were really clicking all game. Again, not sure why. I was at the game and it just felt stale. Gotta say was proud of the fans. Everyone really stuck with the team the entire time. Pretty good turnout too (close to 5k) given it was a late game and absolutely cold as hell outside. ** Edited by j9hokie at 2/21/2025, 12:56:05 AM

Wenzel didn't have a good last minute of regulation time....
Have to give credit to Stanford's defense. Tech had a difficult time finding space to get an open shot. Plus Clardy? had her best game of her career. Team looked lost at times, especially in the final minutes of regulation and OT. Rose Micheaux had a great game but she couldn't carry the team all by herself. Both teams didn't do well at the foul line. Too many TO's tonight. Tech likely is on the wrong side of the infamous bubble now. Making the NCAA Tournament would be a major accomplishment for this team since I thought last October that a WNIT would be a good accomplishment considering what the program lost from last season and the youth and inexperience we had on our roster.

Tell us one thing: Who would you have running point? The only true pg
on this team is out for the year, and obviously Wenzel in no true pg. Given this limited roster and NO PG available just who would you have running that position? If you know, text Coach Duffy and let her know who it is and why she's screwed up all season, and especially tonight!! BTW, not having a serviceable PG is also the reason Baker could be double teamed and this team had 22 TO's. Men and women's teams have both had bad PG all season and it's cost both 5-6 wins. It is what it is.

Wenzel running the point is not why the team lost
The team could be double-teamed because the team's overall spacing is poor in games. Nearly every time Baker tried to score inside, Micheaux or Peterson was in the vicinty rather than taking their player away.. One turnover was a slip and fall. Was that because Wenzel is a PG? That slip and fall would not have happened if she was dribbling as the 2 player? Is Micheaux's 5 turnovers because Wenzel is not a a true PG in your eyes. We lost this game because we could not handle Stanford's screens on offense, because 22 turnovers came from all over the place... Wenzel did not cost the team 5-6 wins, which is essentially what you are saying. Without her defense, FTs, a timely scoring at times. Are you going to mention Baker being 1-for-6? And not being set up at all to shoot from outside? What about White's quiet night? Ekh disappeared after her first 11 pts. To reduce everything to the PG spot ignores lot of other things.
