Posting History (152)

Guess that’s why Neo never lived up to the hype. He could not defend….

Quick guards or physical/athletic forwards. He made some blocks getting back well on fast breaks but was pretty poor guarding his man in general and struggled with opponents that moved a lot on offensive sets.

Men’s lacrosse club advances semifinals

Beat USC ( South Carolina) 11-10 last night in OT and will play in the semifinals. Great turnout to support the team last evening!

Syracuse coach has to be the biggest poor sport in Women’s game

She blasted the NCAA for placing her in the UCONN bracket in postgame news conference …..really, to be the best you have to beat the best. Ask Oregon how fun it was to be placed in the Texas bracket or any of the top seeds….

So if instead of sweeping UVA & we split this past season, we probably ….

….are seeded lower & UVA is seeded higher and who knows but our NCAA tournament outcome changes completely….I know, if and’s & but were candy & nuts🤪

The whole premise of my post is how ludicrous this post by the CBS writer.

If the writer stated that our record against the top 5 teams in the ACC (VT was 0-5 against Duke, UNC, Notre Dame, NCSU, & Louisville) makes us vulnerable then I would state that she has a strong case, but a one point victory, just doesn’t cut it…. Also , would you please explain why the fact that you know the CBS writer makes her argument worthwhile? I don’t get it…..

Agree to disagree

My point is she didn’t use the argument you made David that the win was a differentiator in her blurb. My point was that she discounted our one point win on the road against a bubble team we beat twice. We also beat Clemson and Syracuse who are similarly ranked in the NET so when you compare these 4 ACC teams NCAA chances she is making a very weak argument by emphasizing a one point win as her primary argument.

Really?? Per CBS sports article , …a win isn’t a win if only by one point

CBS Sports NCAAW article snippet “Groel also said that the winner of Virginia vs. Virginia Tech should be comfortable, but considering that it was just a one-point game, it doesn't look like any bubble team truly put themselves in a position to breathe easily heading into conference tournaments. --Lindsay Gibbs”

Shooting %, not a surprise

Personally, she’s never learned when to pull up when driving to the basket. She misses a lot more layups than most and wish she would not force her shot so much. She should pull up on occasion instead of going “hells/bells” every time

Why didn’t we switch to some type of zone or creative defense in 2nd half?

We obviously just needed to focus on stopping Donaldson but guess coaches just assumed he would cool off

ACC Network announces

Why can’t the ACC Network hire announcers that aren’t biased in how they call a women’s basketball game? I realize budgeting issues but how hard is it to just report the play and analyze without undue bias towards the host team.

Interesting how bunched ACC teams are in NET rankings

Syracuse, Clemson, UVA , Stanford, VT & California all pretty close in rankings. Interesting we beat ( with Cal on the horizon) these teams ( including Syracuse & Stanford on the road) . Seems like head to head should mean more than actual NET ranking and will be factored into our resume by NCAA Selection Committee.

Don’t know why but feels like VT is due to roll one of these Quad 1 games

Gut tells me we beat one of Duke, UNC or UVa & then pull off another road win against either Miami, Clemson , or NC State….win ( probably all just barely) all home games against Wake, BC, & FSU . Recent play doesn’t give you the warm fuzzies but just feels like we are due for some high level performances soon with the talent level of this team. Punched ticket to the NCAA . We really miss Tyler Johnson and hopefully he will return soon and play at the same level he was playing.

Oops, correct, I did forget GT

Still thinking we can’t afford loss to Wake and need GT win as well. Agree that 9-9 would put us on the bubble with no bad losses, so more than likely on the right side, but depends on Conference tournament upsets, as usual…. Dang the SMU and Stanford outcomes…

Syracuse game currently Quad 1, but….

But,….. if we beat them they will clearly drop to Quad 2 since they are #75 in the NET. Still plenty of Quad 1 opportunities but pretty much all against the top tier ACC teams. Will need to win at least two or three of UNC, NCSu, Louisville, UVA, Duke, Miami, Clemson at a minimum. All on the road except Duke ( the best team left we play by far)…..can happen but a big challenge Otherwise we need for Syracuse to get back in top 75 somehow after we play them . Also can’t afford losing to FSU, BC , Wake

Classic Wenzel play

Missed her shot and her defender beats her down the court. Duffy is way to loyal….
