I'm not a Facebook person. I leave that to the wife. I appreciate all the feedback about scams. Before I buy anything online I look for some independent review of the site. If I can't find something I walk. Too much trash out there.

... the link was to a company that appeared to have an Indiana address (Dottiee.com) and they used a gmail email, so thought I'd help a small business. Almost 2 weeks ago, I got a notice that my order was shipping from china. A little pissed that it wasn't a small Indiana business, but price was good so I waited to see what I got. Yesterday, I got an alert from my credit card company about a charge I did not recognize. The website sited had nothing on it other than a customer service message and links. The charge said it was for games. I disputed the charge and went home to look at my statement as I am very careful to not scan my card any more. Found another suspicious charge last week that had a different web address, but same bland customer service page popped up when I went to it. Disputed that and was alerted that it is was a recurring charge. Looked for more and did not previously see how my charge for the afghans appeared on statement. I still have not received that shipment, but was billed for it over 2 weeks ago. Called credit company and they are also investigating the afghan site as it appears to have hit my card right before these weekly charges started showing up. They're not big charges, but recurring charges of about $45 each are going to add up if we hadn't caught them and the first one went through. I did more research for the company selling all these college afghans and scam tracker sites show high probability of it being a scam. Thought I was safe as a VT parent appeared to endorse the site for their purchase for a kid for Christmas, but I think it's all a scam at this point. The Coach Duffy ad was obviously off as the hands were not in proportion to her head, so I told a friend it was photoshopped. AI is possible, too. Scary part is that it appears the Chinese are now on our parents page and other Hokie pages phishing for credit cards. Do your research and don't believe everything you see.

Christmas ornaments that people got scammed on. Facebook is full of scam artists trying to get you with targeted ads. It is no different than buying back alley counterfeit junk.

Coaches wearing shirts (and their associated sale) is a classic tactic of scammers. Unless it is sold through VT Licensing or an approved vendor you recognize, the odds of any coach (at any school) ever selling something via Facebook in that way are about zero. It's almost always someone using their image without permission.
