The team gave me the nicest get well card yesterday
They are amazing young ladies and this is something I will always treasure ❤️ I’m so glad I was able to go to the game yesterday. “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”

Chip it was a pleasure meeting you yesterday and of course Arthur the # 1
Hokie softball fan. Wanted to wish you well in person and put a face to a name. Despite the losses it was a very enjoyable weekend with a super exciting finish. I sat directly behind the Rohs on Friday and the Mazzarones on Sunday. Great conversations with both all throughout the games. I also spotted I believe, softball royalty on Saturday as I saw who appeared to be none other than Angela Tincher O'Brien seated in the bleachers behind me. Never got to speak with her but if it wasn't her it was certainly her doppelganger.

I believe it was Angela since several player parents said she was there.
I’ve seen Angela at several games this season. If you sat behind the Mazzarones I’m sure you heard a lot of encouragement from the grandpa. I don’t know how many games you attend, but there’s a fair number of us TSL softball posters in the chair seats in the first few rows behind the plate and the chair seats on the lower right side as you face the stands.

I unfortunately live on the Peninsula so it is quite a road trip for me.
I used to be a season ticket holder for football so lots of trips to Blacksburg over the years. I am somewhat inhibited now after my eight month battle with covid which started in a Mexican hospital in September of 21 and included two months in a coma on a ventilator and a very dire prognosis. The first time out of my house was a trip to Longwood where I watched Emma Lemley and Ivy Rosenberry toss a couple of no-hitters in a double header. I follow the team mostly from afar, but try to catch them live when they are closer to me. You are correct that grandpa Mazzarone can certainly dish out the encouragement. I really enjoyed our softball discussion throughout the game especially with his granddaughter pitching. Of course we had that Italian connection as well. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you this weekend but maybe if we host or possibly next year we can connect. Thanks for the reply.

Hoping for a speedy recovery from all of us on TSL too!
You certainly picked the right game to see. Wish I could have been there. I was pretry down on them after game 2, but they showed us all they are a resilient bunch. ** Edited by B Hokie at 5/5/2025, 9:35:14 PM

Not surprising in the least that they did this!
We have seen this team's high character on display time and time again doing things like this..but it never gets old! One thing I was expecting but didn't see Chip, I was thinking at least one player would challenge you to a race around the bases once the knee heals up a bit more!

Our young ladies are the best period! Hands down! That's what happens when
Christ Jesus is a vital part of our team! It shows in the character of the young ladies and I am honored to call them by name! Go Lady Hokies Softball Team and Go Chip on your recovery! Go Hokies!

I agree about the quality of these players on a personal level. But, in
fairness, we don’t really know other teams very well. Don’t want to short any of them who also might share those qualities.

Watching Fridays game I kept thinking “They just can’t do it without Chip.”

They did NOT do a voice replacement 😎😜 He’s loud and proud
And it comes across the broadcasts when he’s close enough to the mike. Love it

As I said to you yesterday, I believe you being there and leading
the Arthur cheers was a primary reason we won the game. The crowd was much more into yesterday’s game than the previous two and I sincerely attribute a good portion of that enthusiasm and cheer to you!

Truth. There was a different vibe.
When Michelle went out but Chip and Arthur requested a “crooked number” the crowd got back into it and soon after Bre went yard!
