Elimination isn’t a real tourney in softball
3rd or 4th best team there won the thing

You’re just full of excuses this weekend

That’s this thread topic
Clemson is apparently better at mud ball slip & slide. We’re a better softball team

It requires them to burn too many pitchers.
Generally it’s single bid leagues that go with double elimination to protect their regular season champ.

. . . (and often others) to play more than one game in day, sometimes on back-to-back days. You can burn thru pitchers pretty quickly in that format. My daughter coached several years ago in the Big South. They played the double elimination. It was always going to be a one-bid league so no one cared very much about saving pitchers there.

The P4 tourneys are absolutely not a good indicator of your best team
A double elimination format would make sense for a 4 team tourney to simulate regionals. Think how fun Duke-FSU & Clemson-VT would be in that format

What I think is everyone played under the same conditions and rules

We pitched in a downpour during that 8 run inning

light but steady rain.

Light steady rain thru 5 innings didn’t make the sounds that rain made when Lemley was pitching
Also, Mazz through 5 innings barely looked wet. Lemley was drenched after a batter

Sliding yesterday. The field had not gotten soft that I could see.

light but steady rain. I never say pitcher lose footing.

I would disagree. The field was puddling at SS and 2nd. The mound was a muddy mess. Not sure what you were looking at.

. . . able to drive and land fine. If they were having a problem they should have called it to the attention of the umpires and/or our coaches. I've seen pitching circles worked on DURING innings dozens of times for various reasons IF the ump asks for it. I've also seen games halted if a pitcher and/or coach is adamant enough in their complaining. I didn't see any VT player or coach address an umpire regarding the footing the circle. Did you? I guarantee you Karen Weekly would have been standing in the circle demanding something be done and it would have been. Sometimes standing in the dugout with your hoodie over your head is not the best strategy.

Again another reason not to play there as that’s not a postseason softball field
But the ball was slick & infield muddy; 9 errors by 2 top 15 teams is not normal
(In response to this post by MidloHokie)

So they shouldn’t play conference tourney on one

a truly valid way to decide a champion or just an indicator of which team got hot at the right time? Let it go, whining and excuses serve little to no useful purpose.
