Of course, some have been slumping.... The issue with our lineup is that it is a myth that the lineup is dangerous from top to bottom. It is less dangerous when you look at the 8 and 9 spots.. With Castine hitting below .300, she isn't a reliable threat at the plate. So, offense is an issue in the sense that even those top 6 can be shut down or some may not all be hitting on ally cylinders in the same game. But pitching is the bigger issue, because it feels like we are just a smidgen away from disaster on every AB/pitch at times. I know that is an exaggeration, but it feels like Kleiman and Mazzarone, for example, are always having to fight back from a 2-0 or 3-1 count. Whether they can induce a ground ball or fly out or an ulltimate strikeout fine...but there is so much pressure when Kleiman is filling the bases... The triple play is an example of the defense bailing her out... I think part of the issue with the actual pitch calling, especially when it is clear a pitcher is not throwing close...if you call pitches on the outside, it increases the chance that a pitcher who is throwing off the plate will throw a ball. I have no way of knowing of course but it feels like the pitching coach could demand/call pitchers that forced the pitcher to be around the plate more... and let the defense work.

Great pitching can cover up lots of other issues. We scored 4 tonight. With GREAT pitching that's almost enough.

But you also need to hit the freaking ball. How many hit tonight?

that help pitchers avoid so may balls ..where the pitch call made it more likely that a ball would be called when the pitcher is struggling. I know that i am ready to see what the freshmen pitchers can do. Not writing anyone off, but we kind of see the patterns this year - win or lose.
