That would have made to much sense.

Chatfield to 3rd & Legette on1st, positions they were recruited for....Lynch is a great player, that could play any position.

No respect

Interesting. Where would you suggest LeGette fit in there or would you? I guess her coming off the bench in the last few games of the season with 7 hits, 2 doubles, and HR wasn’t impressive enough for you.

Check the stats

Who hit the last two times we played Alabama?

Why would you suggest that?

Legette has years of experience at first base. She can’t help the fact coaches didn’t allow her any game time…Now they have an injury @ the end of the season & she has to play catch up bc she didn’t get the reps!

Put in the back up players

Tomorrow & maybe they can win! ** Edited by VT954 at 5/3/2025, 6:34:57 PM

LeGette

Has not been given a fair opportunity to showcase her abilities.

Pitching isn’t our biggest issue.

Our hitters can’t hit off speed & junk. Period. Besides CM.

Agree to what Gobbler said...Players on the bench

are dying for opportunities to get in the game, but lets leave an injured player in, or players in a slump, or players that cant hit the ball period in the game, that makes sense. NOT

Absolutely correct.

The last series LeGette had an opportunity to play, she had 2 home runs. That was over 6 weeks ago. It’s really hard to get into a grove with one bat a series. It’s counterintuitive thinking by not engaging particular players on the bench & It’s definitely not helping the team in the long run.

Ridiculous

15-0 & basically batting practice for the starters. Sorry but what about giving some of the backup players a β€œchance”.

logjam

LeGette was highly recruited, primary position first base but can play O/F. It would have made more sense to move Chatfield to 3rd, since she played that position in HS & LeGette play first, but I'm not the coach so we will never know.

LeGette

has played a little 1st base in her career, six years....she might be able to handle it. Plus I believe she was recruited for first base. ** Edited by VT954 at 4/8/2025, 2:59:16 PM

Hit the nail on the head

Its old school mindset, not to consider strategic substitutions or a players strengths to address specific matchups or maybe when your starters aren't hitting/producing? Not to mention player development.

Agreed

A lot of talent wasting away on the bench.

LeGette

Primary position has been 1st base for years but also has played OF.

Starting lineup hitless

If they would quit trying to make it a competition to hit a home run…. It’s BS. Take the pressure off, make contact & hit the ball hard. Hard contact & errors on the defense wins games too.

I agree

You need hitters that are able to hit hard line drive WITHOUT THE PRESSURE of hitting a β€œhome run” every bat. The pressure on these players to hit a home run causes a pop up or strike out. Errors on the opposing team or small ball scores runs. Most of the elite teams are winning games by mixing it up with small ball, hard balls on the ground & a few home runs.

Great concept!

Absolutely correct let Chatfield DP or does she play any other position? Legette was recruited for first base.

Stats

Thanks for the clarification. In the end RBI’s win as many games as solo home-runs. That’s just my opinion but I’m sure there are stats on that too. πŸ˜‚

Leading hitters

I’m sure it’s probably an oversight on the stats but LeGette has a 375 average, with 6 RBI’s, 3 runs & 6 hits with less at bats of course.

Sad to see her go, seemed like a really nice girl with a lot of potential.

Maybe a little more rotation for someone like her would possibly prevented this from happening. I don’t think it would hurt giving some like Teagan a β€œlittle” more playing time so next season when seniors are gone, those players could step in with a little more confidence…

Several players this year flew under the radar

The team has several players that are extremely capable of performing. Legette & Yager to name a few. They were right there & if given more reps would have contributed to the offense, when others players were in a slump. Several freshman players would have stepped in very effectively if given the opportunity. I know it’s easy to get mesmerized by a few, but you can’t forgot rest of a highly recruited class.

Single elimination starting pitcher

I would start most dominant pitcher…I think it sets the vibe & mojo for the game. Players more hyped up & confident with attitude on the field & at bat. If Lemley started & came out firing πŸ”₯ the ball, I think our bats would have been more on fire. Just an opinion

There are options

We have several freshmen that can step up & are capable of playing IF & OF in the game.
