Addyson Fisher from Tennessee just committed
Fisher, from Volunteer High School, is a sophomore lefthander. She was the Upper Lakes Conference Player of the Year and the year finished 18-5 with 265 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.31 in 155 innings. She was also named the District I-AAA and Region I-AAA Tournament Most Valuable Player. I'll have some more information about her shortly. ** Edited by VTChip at 10/15/2023, 10:02:51 PM

Elite Softball Recruiting - has her as their #1 Overall Recruit
Candidly, I have never heard of them so take it with a HUGE grain of salt, but this is what they posted in October of 2022. Elite Softball Recruiting October 13, 2022 · Addyson Fisher Is Our #1 Overall Prospect Of Class Of 2025! She Gets A lot Of Swing And Misses And Weak Contact When They Do Put The Ball In Play. She Displays A 66 Mph Fastball With Movement On It! She Attends Volunteer High School And We Expect Her To Have A Big Spring Certainly sounds like a good get.

So she is Addyson (not Addisen)? Coz I saw Addisen is #1 in the country and
committed to UCLA. I think our "Addyson" is #1 regionally correct, not #1 in the nation? That would be a great shell-shocker if VT got #1 recruit in the nation. I don't recall VT ever getting #1 recruit in the nation.

I think Kevin Jones (football) and Cody Gardner (wrestling) were both...
considered the #1 overall recruit in the country when they were coming out of high school.

What are you talking about? Comparing football and wrestling recruits?
Chip should be able to clarify. It's not "Addisen" who is #1 softball recruit in the nation for class 2024 and committed to UCLA. Our commitment "Addyson" is for class 2025 but she is not #1 recruit in the nation, I think she is closer to the #100-110 ranking. Maybe Chip or someone here can clarify her ranking.

This site has her as number one, but it seems like it is not a national
list.

Here is the Addyson Fisher who committed to Tech.

#1 ranking
I trust Pete completely, but could her overall ranking nationally be confused with Addison Fisher who committed to UCLA?
VTChip VTChip OP
No, two separate ranking organizations
Sounds like the one that has our Addyson at #1 is more regional in nature. I specifically checked on that. Both are good ones though and always glad to steal a great player from Tennessee. A related funny note: I got this text yesterday from a softball resource that I met on my press box adventures who had been with some coaches from Tennessee when they heard from her. “I guess a really good pitcher from Johnson City, TN they were recruiting hard is going to the Hokies.”

A 2026 commit?

Class of 2025
R
RJHokie
Original post says she’s currently a sophomore.
Junior year would be 24-25 school year. So she would sign in the Fall of 2025 as a senior, which is the 25-26 school year. It gets confusing when determining the actual class year.
VTChip VTChip OP
She was a sophomore when she won all the awards
Players can't officially be contacted until September 1 of their Junior Year so she's currently a junior.

Ok, that explains it.
Thanks.
