We swung at a ton of first pitches and we jumped on her that same way the first 2 games when we drilled her. Today to her credit she was throwing lower strikes. Once we finally adjusted we started hitting harder grounders and liners but they all seemed to go directly at Clemson

Only striking out 2x vs Cagle isn’t bad offense at all…but Clemson played phenomenal D. Our D handed them 1 run plus the two that found a hot hitter’s barrel…and that’s just the way softball is decided sometimes in the top 10 (Clemson will be RPI top 10 after these last 2 Ws vs us and ND)

You have to make the pitcher work. You have to love a walk as much as a hit. Trull is the ONLY one who I thought showed really nice plate discipline today (and she was plunked the first time, so it's a small sample size). I mean, I get the idea of being aggressive and if you see a good pitch, swing at it--but the best pitch will rarely be the first one of the at bat, statistically speaking. Pitchers don't want to just serve up a home run ball with their first pitch to a batter. They want to see if they'll chase. You get 4 balls but only need 3 strikes. When you consistently swing at the first pitch, you are playing against the odds--of a walk or of seeing a better pitch.

Seemed like they didn't want to get behind in the count but instead made it too easy on the Clemson pitcher. If you're going to take this approach they have to look for a pitch in a specific place and crush it. Cant just swing at anything because you don't want to fall behind in count.

Will bode well in postseason imo. The other teams aren’t likely to be as perfect in the field as Clemson was today. We still did hit the ball hard many times just unfortunately right at Clemson

expected to win, it changes the mentality and need to adjust mental game. Or iiwii and you just lose some games. hopefully they make a deep run.
