You would think

... that the new California teams will play roughly 1/2 their ACC schedule at home and 1/2 on the road. With any luck, they play each other every year (whether those are officially conference games or not). It would reason that the rest of the conference will make a softball trip to the West Coast at least once every other year (if they were to play both teams while they were out there (which doesn't fit into a typical Fri/Sat/Sun 3-game series). It could be that teams east of the Mississippi are out there every year... playing one or the other in some alternating fashion. What's not to love about 1 trip to Cali? Imagine Cal and Stanford though. Roughly 1/3 of their schedule with home ACC games, 1/3 as non-conf games, and 1/3 somewhere east of Chicago (South Bend being our previous westernmost ACC town). That's a lot of airline miles. All just guesswork, but how far off could it be from this? BTW, even if the PAC-xx swallows another conference, do we all agree that we're now living in the world of the Power 4?

So, most fans won't be able to see those games in person?

VT will probably only play Stanford and Cal on the road every 4 years or so**

I would hate to see extended trips just to play both schools
