Just a couple of quick notes on our new conference opponents
Who knows what the ACC will do with regards to Olympic Sports scheduling, but here's just a couple of notes on Stanford and California. TCU does not have a softball program.
Stanford had one of it best seasons in program history last year, finishing 47-15 (14-10 in Pac-12) and made the College World Series for the third time (2001, 2004, 2023). The Cardinal was a top-10 fixture all season and was ranked as high as No. 3 in several final polls. During the season, they put together a 21-game winning streak.
Stanford has qualified for the NCAA tournament 20 times and made the Super Regionals seven times. The Cardinal is 44-27 in NCAA Regionals, 4-12 in NCAA Super Regionals and 6-6 at the NCAA Women's College World Series. They have made the Super Regionals the past two seasons.
California finished last season with a record of 35-21-1 and qualified for the NCAA Regionals where they were eliminated by Oklahoma. Their season included an 8-0 run-run victory over then #2 UCLA in March, their first win over a Top-5 program since 2012. They led the Pac-12 in home runs last year with 67.
The Golden Bears have qualified for the NCAA tournament 33 times and have made it to the College World Series 12 times, the last appearance in 2012.
As I mentioned, TCU does not have a softball program. Their baseball team was discontinued in 1980 due to budget issues.
