I would hate to see extended trips just to play both schools

The thought of Thursday-Tuesday trips for a weekend series and a follow-up game or two just doesn't seem reasonable unless it were during spring break... and that only works for a few schools per year, depending on how breaks stagger. As for 1 weekend a year... it isn't that much different than going to BC or FSU. Once you've decided that it is long enough to fly, it's just another couple of hours. I just wouldn't want to do it (or have olympic sports PAY for flights) much more than they have to. Take a look at how Hawaii does a typical softball schedule... they're a 5 hour flight (or more) from most of their opponents. Is that what the 2 ACC Cali schools are going to start doing? I don't think that's going to be the model here, but who knows. Once the writing was on the wall for the PAC, Cal and Stanford wanted this, BADLY! From an academic standpoint, there is no better fit for them, with the B1G being the next best fit. Geographically, this is horrible for the kids in the CA schools. It is very hard for me to see this working long-term, but I can guarantee you that the ACC is going to make it difficult to break that contract. Has the world always been about money? Are the days of any common sense well behind us?

So, most fans won't be able to see those games in person?

VT will probably only play Stanford and Cal on the road every 4 years or so**
