I'll add this

it sounds like it really comes down to the two Commonwealth coaches, which in itself is pretty cool. One team has essentially the exact team from a year ago that finished 12th out of 13 teams and this year moved up 6 spots while the other added a freshman pitcher who is arguably one of the top 2 in the country to a team who already has an All-American pitcher plus had 4 players on the preseason All-ACC team. Is it harder to coach a team where you can pencil in W's due to your pitching and talent or is it a better coaching job when you have to use less talent including having to use 8 pitchers throughout the entire year? I'd say that those on this board who have coached know that putting Emma or Keely on your lineup card makes you feel pretty good about your chances to win. The other coach knew that they will have to scratch and claw all 50 games because you don't know what you're going to get. Just some thoughts to go with the pre-season predictions.

Coach Pete all the way. Very deserving. **

SCHokie1103 05/03/22 02:45 PM ET
I agree because
OKDokeyHokie 05/03/22 02:39 PM ET
Pete may not win ACC COY, but could win national COY**
ronvpi 05/03/22 10:28 AM ET
Indeed he could. **
SCHokie1103 05/03/22 02:46 PM ET
The perverse logic might be that he has won the ACC COY recently (2019)...

SCHokie1103 05/03/22 02:48 PM ET
He didn't name VT either in the top pitching staffs returning.
carhokies 05/03/22 12:49 PM ET

I'll add this
VT_AD 05/03/22 10:14 AM ET
Personally I don’t think finishing 6th is worthy of COY

Kind of a fuzzy award in ways, I see "improvement" being the biggest
`lag 05/03/22 09:58 AM ET
Respectable
Techdady 05/03/22 10:03 AM ET
Do we consider the flashy digs?**
IB4TECH 05/03/22 10:38 AM ET
That's my point, it's a fuzzy award "bad to respectable" might be...

Feel good
Techdady 05/03/22 10:30 AM ET
At this point, I think it has to be D'Amour. Preseason, Tech was picked
dallasvt 05/03/22 09:41 AM ET
Yeah, math curve there, those last few spots get increasingly harder
`lag 05/03/22 10:54 AM ET
Plus Pete actively went after and secured a tough schedule where others
RJHokie 05/03/22 09:37 AM ET
And mostly took care of business
OKDokeyHokie 05/03/22 02:42 PM ET
Reminds me a little how F$U built their football brand
EDGEMAN 05/03/22 12:16 PM ET
Yeah that was a brutal schedule - good point**
VT_AD 05/03/22 09:56 AM ET
It darn well better not go to Dook, who played a cream puff schedule.**
